College Football Stuff

This is gonna be a mess. Hiring a President who will fire the AD not the best time to be hiring a coach. Also AD is being incorrectly slandered about having signed both Kelly and Jimbo to their buyout deals. He hired Jimbo in 2018 but was already at LSU when Jimbo was extended in 2020 mainly because A & M was afraid he would go to LSU. AD has done a phenomenal job fundraising, facilities and did hire a women's BB coach who won a National Championship and a baseball coach who won two. Kelly did not work about but Scott Woodward is as good an AD as there is in the country. Plus he is an LSU guy, born and raised in Baton Rouge.

That is all well and good. But let’s face it, ADs at schools like LSU, will ultimately be judged by the successes failures of the football program.

Ed Orgeron was a local and won a national title at LSU in one of the most dominant seasons in memory. Yet he was fired as the program went downhill (and bringing in Kelly to replace him).

Kelly was a disastrous hire for LSU, which is one of the best jobs in the country.

Orgeron was fired mainly for off the field activities and Kelly was not successful but I wouldn't term it a disaster. Anyway timing is awful with uncertainty in administration and fine if you want to fire AD but don't make up stories that the national press has chosen to run with.

I still think Kelly was a disastrous hire.

But I agree that making up stories about the AD is in poor taste.

Now that Governors run state university athletic departments the people of NJ and Va should be asking their candidates how they will run them !

Auburn is still a very good job (it is the SEC after all), but they are falling way behind the top half of the conference.

Auburn has turned into a basketball/baseball school. The donors will have to pony up big time to get football going again.
Agree, pass the hat 😇

It looks like the SEC is trying real hard to keep the perennial powers on top with head scratching officials' calls. In the Georgia vs Florida game, the Florida kid made a great "catch" near the end of the game that was overruled both on the field and in the review both as a catch. The TV announcers after closely reviewing the replay thought it was a great catch and over half of the Georgia fans groaned when they saw the replay.

I thought it was a great catch, better than Kelce's "catch" a few weeks ago which was ruled a catch even though his hands were on top of the ball and the bottom of the ball was on the ground. Georgia received the benefit of another controversial call against Auburn three weeks ago.

The carousel is wild and still more to come. But all make sense so far. But if Clemson clips Dabo that would be the dumbest move of all. He would be a coup for any open job.
