I think Florida will be extremely tough, what a strong frontcourt they return in addition to talented guards.

The 1984 Preseason Poll was released on Nov. 15th. The week 1 poll had us at #3, just in time for our season opener against Lafayette.

Usually, because of the Lapchick Tournament, we started earlier than most other teams.

Columnist in The Athletic has us at #14. Not denying the incoming talent but claims they weren’t big parts of their prior teams. Also concerns about Hopkins’ health. He does admit he may be underestimating Pitino. We shall see.

Prior to Nov. 26 Week 1 poll, 3 teams lost.
Preseason #2 Illinois lost to UAB in Alaska.
#4 Indiana lost to Louisville and #5 Oklahoma lost to Illinois in Springfield.

As of right now we will be playing 7 regular season games against teams in preseason top 25 - UCONN & Creighton twice, Kentucky, Alabama & Iowa State with a possibility of one more in final Vegas game. This is not counting the exhibition against #7 Michigan.

When was the last time Kansas was ranked #19 in the AP Preseason Poll? Self's illness and Norm Roberts retiring seems to have had a pretty big impact on the program.
