Around the Big East 25-26

Field of 68 previews BE.

Dauster basically says SJU/UCONN top tier. Creighton/Marquette/Providence make second tier and believes all 5 of them make NCAA's. He then believes the next 3 will be in the mix are Villanova/Georgetown/Butler. Dauster very high on Butler. Oglesby higher on G-town then Providence.

And then they all agree DePau/Xavier/SHU bringing up the rear. All 3 agree DePaul arrow pointing up and will give teams problemz. Xavier lots of turnover and new coach. And SHU well they felt bad for Fanta...LOL

Soo… I’m starting to see UConn consistently rated higher than us… now- I realized the potential…possible…inherent bias I might have… but how? Did I miss a big signing they had?

U guys putting their top 5 above ours? Cause I know we have the depth won

Keep ranking them higher. Just makes it more fun when we beat their asses down 3 times this year. And yes Boneyard quote me again this year on that

Ratings now are just throwing stuff against the wall. I am pleased of course to see us in top 10 in most of them, but real work takes place now in practice to integrate new talent and make sure the D is of high quality.

Re UConn, they will be very good and deep warranting SJU brings its A game whenever we play them. Last year was last year. Both teams if healthy will be contenders for BE title, tourney trophy and big Dance success. Imo, no sense predicting sweeps at this point.

Preseason rankings are a complete farce. They should be banned. This is professional college basketball. Gone are the cute days of silly terms like student-athlete, amateurism, and pride.

Ball is probably the best scoring guard, Demery is a known entity, smith as a nice backup and Mullins is expected to be a great shooter, whereas there are more question marks in the SJU backcourt. They also return Karaban and Stewart. Obviously sju has a much better front court. Sju has more overall talent clearly but I could see an argument that UConn’s pieces fit a bit better and they return more so there’s better continuity. Both teams should be top 6 to start the seasons so it’s close either way.

agree on Ball... great known scorer... taking bias away... would you trade:
Jax/Joson/Sellers/Mitchell/Hop
for
Silas/Ball/Karaban/Smith/Stewart ?

don't think i would... re: Karaban- while a very good player- i think a lot of his "hype" is coming from 2 UNREAL National Championship squads... where he was the perfect role player... don't think he's made for the Focal point of an Offense... we saw that last year

I wouldn’t make that trade but I also think the coaches recruited to their systems too. Ball on sju or mitchell on UConn would be a weird fit.

I agree on karaban too. I think this year he’ll be like the 3rd option again which will be better for him
