New York Mets 2025 Season

The way the Yankees are handling Volpe reminds me of the way Cashen and crew handled Greg Jeffries.
Met veterans mocked Jefferies for running out routine grounders full tilt, kind of like Pete Rose. At the time I hoped a single veteran would have told Met players to leave the kid alone. But leaders on that team were already in career tailspins and Gregg was on his own.

Once again Mendoza pushing all the wrong bullpen buttons. Ryne Stanek again? Why? Now down 5-2 we are going to Kevin freaking Herget. 7th inning we are in a tight game it’s time we started pushing some people. Only 20 games or so to go and we are playing like it’s a game in May. No urgency.

after the game, I decided the way to handle my depression given the outcome was to have a few laughs, so I am now watching another baseball game--Savannah Bananas on TRU right now. They have sold out San Diego's stadium which is nothing new about their attendance numbers.

I sort of remember it the other way around where there were times he did not run it out (you would probably know and remember that stuff more than me) and remember them mocking him for other things including swinging a bat while in a pool. He was the favored child even before taking a MLB at bat and was treated with kid gloves which caused resentment among the veterans. He also did some childish things that the veterans didn’t like.

Speaking of childish, I remember Jeff Kent throwing a tantrum and refusing to get dress and get on the bus for a charter flight road trip because as part of the rookie hazing, someone swapped out his regular clothes for some multicolored outfit. They wound up giving him his clothes back. That did not sit well with the veterans either.

We tried to go see them later this month and the wife told me it was a grand and that was a month ago. The new Harlem Globetrotters.
