My son posed the thread-topic question to me the other day. We more or less agreed on 3 out of the 4. Thought others might find it interesting and curious to see where consensus lands (if there is any - there may an age-based divergence here). You can vote for 4.

Felt very confident about Hansbrough and Melo, and wavered with the others. Changed my mind and gave Brunson over Redick because of multiple titles. Davis slightly over Zion due to winning the championship.

Do think Durant deserves a nomination.

To me- Kemba, Carmelo and Davis are locks

I went back and forth on my 4th. Ended up taking Curry but I think that’s because of personal attachment to that run to the elite 8, was one of the great Cinderella runs of my childhood. Feel like it could either be Redick/Hansborough

You are with me and my son. His top pick was Davis. My three were Kemba, Melo, and Curry. He likes Zion as a strong contender, I do not.

Redick, Hansbrough, and McDermott are all strong contenders to me but I can't put them ahead of AD, Kemba or Melo. Steph as a college player is an argument versus those 3, I think.

There are definitely other names and Durant chief among them but poll options were limited.

I downgraded Brunson vs some of the others based on surrounding talent. Name one guy who played with Melo, Curry, or Walker!

For college careers, which I guess this could be interpreted differently than that, I couldn’t put Melo, Davis, or any other 1 year guy over Hansbourough. As much as I hate him, JJ is tough to leave off of college Mount Rushmore, I’m surprised no one else has voted for him.

Kemba and Brunson for combination of winning and star power are the other 2 for me.

Melo is on my list and my #1 on my list if I had to rank him. But he did have Hakim Warrick and Gerry McNamara. His team was very solid!

I'd also have a hard time arguing against Curry. I'd rank him ahead of Durant.

I did have to look it up but Kemba did have two future pros on his team -- Shabazz and Lamb. But he definitely carried that team. Probably the UConn hater in me, but I do associate Kemba more with having a hot/insane run at the end of the year than a totally dominant year like the others I considered.

If it makes you feel better, I selected JJ and then took him off for Brunson once I remembered he never won a title/struggled in March.

Jesus, tell us how you really feel about us 🤣

That Cuse team was loaded. UConn too. And who wasn’t a fan of Jason Richards setting up Steph curry!?

My votes were Steph (moved to Davidson area just after Steph graduated and worked down the street from Davidson College so Steph's a given for me), Melo, Brunson & Kemba.

Sadly, shows you how weak college bball has become.

I think Zach Edey belongs on the list if not the Mount. He was a phenomenal college player. Would also include Jameer Nelson from St. Joe's.

My BE bias puts Kemba there. How much weight can you give one-hit wonders like Melo and AD? Steph Curry? Maybe. Probably Tyler Hansborough although he makes Christian Laettner's career look like Larry Bird's.

That is the tough part. I went with Melo, Kemba and Curry as guys who put their teams on their backs and carried them, in two cases to championships and in the third as far as that team could go. Anthony Davis, same thing.

If I was going for career then I would probably take Hansbrough, McDermott (an absolute privilege to watch), Redick, and probably Brunson.

Very different outcomes depending on what criteria you use.

Edey's name came up. You could put Dwayne Wade and Jameer Nelson in the discussion also.

If the goal is to win the game:

I’ll go Kemba-Steph-JJ-Melo-Okafor. Strong preference to upperclassmen, but Melo was so dominant as a freshman.
