Any thoughts on Jacob Misiorowski making the All Star team after only 5 major league starts? He has an era of 2.81 and has pitched a total of 25 innings. Our Metsies handed him his only loss and scored 5 runs in less than 4 innings in early July

I think five starts is a ludicrous sample size, especially considering Senga has pitched more and has half the era

I guess it’s easier to get competent robots, than to get better live umpires.

Automatic line caller has definitely been an improvement in tennis not sure why it wouldn’t work calling balls and strikes just as well

Calling tennis lines, with the lines a set position, oversimplifying a bit, you are essentially taking a picture of a fixed point.
Calling balls and strikes with the up, down, side to side movement on the ball traveling through a spherical like area defined by an odd shaped plate and the size and stance of the batter, is an entirely different technology. The static pictures shown on TV replays do not provide a true picture IMO because a strike is defined by the ball “touching” the plate at any appropriate point in that varying size sphere.
Not saying it is not doable at all, it is, just completely different from tennis.
As for the game, IMO, just another step towards taking the “soul” out of sports, like replays. Sports are played by humans, with all flaws that entails and I don’t think technology has improved them one bit. Some calls technology get right, others completely wrong and you know why? Because ultimately, the final decisions are made by people, same as on the field.
But, they do serve to alter the rhythm and flow of games and that is a horrible thing.
Not to mention, I look forward to the first “delay of the start of game due to technology failure”.

Let’s go with “Concepts I Hate” for 1000 Ken…

The literal money quote:

“I think if we expand, it provides us with an opportunity to geographically realign,” Manfred said. “I think we could save a lot of wear and tear on our players in terms of travel. And I think our postseason format would be even more appealing for entities like ESPN, because you’d be playing out of the East and out of the West.”

MLB’s 2030 Patrick Division:
Mets
Yankees
Red Sox
Phillies
Orioles

I have no idea how this look but the Nationals would have to be in that group as well.

Reds fans totally screwed, once again considered to be in the western part of the US despite being in the Eastern Time Zone. Enjoy those 10:00 pm starts…

Name the Conferences:
  • I-95
  • Snowbelt
  • Calexico
  • Rocky Mountain High
  • Confederate
  • Erie to Atlantic
  • Chitown and "Cities"
  • Flyover
PS Houston and Texas are already in the west but I don't think they're starting their games at 10pm est. Division names don't dictate start times.
