Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

There is no other school in the country a native New Yorker like Pitino could be living this kind of life. Weekly baseball games at his choice of two stadiums, horse racing without having to travel much, late night TV appearances, nonstop national media attention, MSG, Manhattan dining, family and friends close by...
In turn his drive to revive the moribund NYC program into national prominence and put the icing on his HOF career.

It also allows Pitino to give one last middle finger to all the detractors who said his career was over as he was coaching in Greece.

And for us starving fans, a moment we will cherish forever (and maybe give a few middle fingers ourselves to all those other fan bases that crapped on us at every turn).

Also huge fundraising plus considering RP’s Wall Street contacts, marketing ability and media skills. Quite a nice “marriage” considering where the program was. I never imagined such a revival. Kudos to Father Shanley as well.

Good interview. Interesting points to me were:
— would only go to Euro league but not nba or another college job (did get a couple calls last year, but loves MSG too much)
— doesn’t know what he’d do if he retires
— kelvin has made him rethink recruiting freshmen
-- thinks we can get to 12-13 regular season games at MSG annually, but would still need to play the cupcakes (my phrase) at Carnesseca

On the last point, we have several studs in our backyard who are High School seniors so let’s get on it.

I doubt he ever returns to college, but I would be shocked if we didn't win out big if he was ever deciding between us and Providence. Wasn't one of his parents connected to St. John's? I remember hearing that ages ago.
Kranmars has guaranteed Rick is here till he’s 80 at least so either way it’s not a big deal

Some great Rick being Rick quotes in his spot with Jon talking about Joson Sanon and Ian Jackson basically not knowing how to play basketball. Found myself laughing in the car. In typical Rick fashion he called Joson the most physically gifted on the team and Ian the most room to grow and potential and then said both basically never learned and don't know when to pass, when to shoot, when to set up a team mate, when to do anything basically.

I was laughing out loud. He basically said it's the product of being a super star high school player...and I took it as a major indictment on both of their previous coaches, Hubert Davis and Bobby Hurley, not teaching them a thing.

Rick will always find buttons to push for motivation.

Need expert AI image generators to replace Tony Soprano with coach. Good opportunity for Storm Marketing to sell merch, t-shirts, posters, etc….
