We call them summer cottages up here.. or just cottage
I was surprised when i did business in Canada that Canadians called wven very large 2nd homes cottages.

My emphasis in the phrase was calling something in Maine a summer home
Maine is beautiful but in Maine summer is even shorter than in ny.

Gee , that’s sounds like a negative to direct at a Player who was BE and BET MVP and 2nd Team All America.
Who , equally as important recently received a Award for his Academic achievements .

Maybe he’s not a NBA player . Time will tell , Champagne wasn’t drafted either and look how that’s worked out .
I am rooting for him. But just don't see any skill he possesses that feels like it's NBA level. And I don't even think he was the best player on the team last year, much less the best in the conference.

I have to disagree with this. His performance in the second half of the Big East Tournament Championship game showed that RJ is Special. Who else could have scored 27 points in the second half to lead us to the Championship.

The Big East conference was founded in 1979 and no player has scored more points in one half of a Championship game than RJ did against Creighton. That alone speaks to his value. I loved how last year's team came together and respect the talent and contributions of Kadary, Zuby, Aaron, etc, but RJ was that #GUY!!!

And the Big East coaches as a voting block thought he was the conference player of the year which counts for a lot imho.

Another Gem of a post by Panther . Who doesn’t jump in on every post but , picks his spot and then comments .
Invariably , those comments are fact based and possess a perspective that can rarely , if ever be challenged .

Let me be clear , I have not had the opportunity to meet Panther in person as I no longer live in NY , so I have no basis to courting his favor . Other than to appreciate what and when he posts .

Prior communication , over the years indicates we are contemporaries , having attended St John’s at the same time .
So , we go back , as they say .
And , we are among the relative few on here , who can recall seeing Sonny Dove , Ken McIntyre , etc and Joe Lapchick Coach his last game at the 1965 NIT Win over Villanova

I like the way he has summarized RJ ‘s value here . Just like the BE Coaches did in voting him BE MVP and MVP of BET .

RJ’s 2 nd half explosion in the BET final with 27 points after 2 at intermission had never been done before .
Not by Mullin , Berry , Ewing , etc

Of course, some here would find fault with his only having 2 points in the first half. So there’s that. (And I too was a freshman for Lapchick’s last year of coaching before his absurd mandatory retirement.) (but that’s an entirely different thread.

Love RJ and think he’s the single greatest reason for our remarkable season last year.

Appreciate your kind words SLYFOXX1968. That 1965 Championship win over Villanova still brings a smile to my face. I remember attending a game at Nova with Curtis Sumpter a few years ago and running into Jim Washington. You know I had to remind him of that game .:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I was at that game as well. Likely sat near you in our crazed student section under the basket!

I remember speaking with RJ at last year's Sunday supper and asking him how his recovery from surgery was going. Polite but short responses. "100%". "Ready to go". "Can't wait". Any lingering effects? "Nope. None. I'm good." Great to hear! Have a great season! "Thank you very much."

Yes he was 100%.
Yes he was ready to go.
Yes he had a great season.

Why I wouldn't bet against him:

Wingspan. Guessing its 82 inches plus.
Hops: gets off the floor.
Quick jumper: when going after his own misses or rebounds his second effort is often to the ball before opponents have elevated.
Open court prowess: lethal in transition with some silky spins and change of direction.
Shot: improving.

Perspective: undrafted nba all- stars:

No one is saying RJ should have been a 1st round pick or even 2nd round. Just saying he did some things with the ball in the open court that I'm hard pressed to say the last sju player to do that stuff. Whether it's good enkugh fir the show, who knows?

Sure you can maybe say 2 years from now, See? I told you he wouldn't make it, but those in Rj's camp are more than hoping against hope, we see an upside that if refined, he just might surprise a lot of people.

So you're saying you agree with Sly that we should be talking about RJ in the same sentence as two NBA top 50 all time players and The Truth?

Ok cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just not their own facts
