Season Tickets

They could announce how much tickets cost per game at each arena by location.

But I wouldn’t expect them to figure that out so no worries here.

any group of you guys going for a certain section?

last rows of 114 fellas- u guys gunnin for the same seats?
Yes exact same seats we have the 2nd and last 3rd rows but we might want last row and 2nd to last row. We don’t want to all be in same row because it’s impossible to talk to each other and curse at each other. If we are 12 we want 6 and 6

Remember. They know you you are. Our crew is working on getting your ticket pic zoom moved earlier from April. Don’t ruin Ed’s work 😀

Btw anyone thinking they can just get over to 114 there is a member fee of round of IPAs or Bronx Pale Alesi. This isn’t the 59th street bridge

So basically we have to spam click to get in early to "choose" our seats? Or what happens we get sat in the blues? This whole things stinks like last weeks tuna casserole...
MSG seats around 18,000. We have nowhere near the number of season tickets outstanding even with the expected increase this year to even think anyone will be way upstairs. If you're referring to CA, that's a different matter. There will be a lot less seats available due to installing the seatbacks and people will be moved, yes. But obviously the idea is to reward the donors.

The ticket prices for each section will be available when selection starts.

Any info on the approximate number of weekend vs. weeknight MSG games on the reserved (potential) list?
That was not discussed. Lots of it also depends on a few other schools that play in NBA arenas as well like Villanova and Georgetown so I assume that's considered for scheduling since I would think the the Big East would like to have games betweeen teams spaced fairly apart. Must be a headache doing all that.

I don't believe they technically price the tickets on a per game basis; the season tickets seat is priced at a totzl certain level which theoretically is priced at a discount if you bought on a per game basis.

They do plan on having the prices available prior to seat selection time. Just expect approximately an increase of 25%-30% over what you paid last year.

That’s a very hefty increase. My guess is most season ticket holders will swallow it, as long as their seats are the same or very close- eg, within a row or 2. We’re not Duke.
Seems backwards (but then again that's the SJU way) to announce reseating, publish incorrect points multiple times, ask for more donations, see no true movement in tiers, give a date for seat selection (without a full schedule) and rumblings about a price increase on top of that.

Why do I feel like I just bought a used car?

At least that used car will get less dings on it from the cars parked around it in the oompah loompah mini sized parking spaces on campus with less games there :)

I remember not so so long ago, when I coached a boys CYO team in Queens, there were a few kids and their families who were really into basketball. In a parish that I'd say was more lower middle class, taking your family to a Knicks game was even 15 years ago was out of reach financially. I suggested to one dad, who had a blue college job at JFK, that a St John's game is a lot more affordable, with games on campus and even MSG. When I told him how much for either venue, this father of 3 kids shook his head and said, "That’s too rich for me." I felt badly, because even at reasonable prices, college basketball was beyond the reach of a working class family.

Now, with salaried players, many being paid close to or above 7 figures per season, even with the bulk of those salaries financed by benefactor donors and corporate sponsors, all Big East (the Catholic league) schools have jacked ticket prices 10-15 times the rate of inflation.

I have friends who are season ticket holders and retired, who have dug deep to move into the 50th percentile with the hope of retaining their seats. I suspect with the expectation of a highly ranked team, most STHs will renew even at 25-30% increases.

What bothers me is that just as the NBA long ago priced out working families, we just took a big step forward towards that. Sure if you are raising a family in Manhasset or Garden City, games are still affordable. But in the most diverse borough in NYC, most Queens families msy be priced out. Hopefully, there is a tier of really cheap seats, though with CA mostly sold out and MSG more expensive, that's dounbtful.

One part of the brand identity that a great sports team brings to a college is a 12 year old kid visiting CA for the very first time, setting foot on campus and dreaming what it would be like to go here. I know. I was one of those kids at 15, and had no idea that 4 years later I'd be a student at SJU.

There are certain realities of being competitive, even for a Catholic school, that make these price increases a no-brainer to raise revenue. But then again, with a priest as school president raised in gritty working class Providence and Vincentians largely from the boroughs, I hope that there are cheap tix still in the mix, albeit without G.O. card prices.

This could be an interesting point to raise to Ed.

Last year, probably the most STH we’ve had in the 2000’s… fair to say? - We still did not fill the 100’s with STHs… a sprinkle in the 200s…

The School could offer- MSG would have to sign off… cause I know they have closed off certain sections based on Game/opponent… but the end zones of the 200s, possibly 3/400s, at very fair price for the season… to allow for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend, to get in on the action.

When they remove a bunch of spaces for the practice facility, you'll have to buy one of these. Can't register it in NYS though but a dealer can set it up to be registered in Montana. And it has to be over 25 years old. and they're not allowed on highways.
