Season Tickets

Plot twist: The AD got so much in NIL donations that they are having a hard time counting it all. May have to enlist the help of some local banks - tellers, money counting machines, etc. - to get aspiring STHs a point total.

August, earliest.

As mentioned by Beast earlier in this thread and confirmed yesterday, the problem is accurately collecting donation information from various sources at SJU. Different databases for Red/White, McCallen Society, outright gifts to SJU apart from athletics, etc. There was also a flurry of donations right up the the 6/16 cutoff date as well.
My serious annoyance is that very likely they will set aside very choice seat locations for new sponsors who may never have had season tickets at the front of the priority line just behind of huge donors and sju faculty/administrators already on the floor and based on how big a sponsor give them however many season tix they reasonably want.

My guess is even those in the top 10-20% of priority points will have difficulty improving seat locations.

Since Shanley is pressing for greater revenue, there is a rationale for this, but in the end, when the team returns to mediocre, the sponsors and Johnny come lately (pun intended) fans will depart and SJU will revert to telling long time STH's we are the backbone of the program.

Do you know how many faculty members / administrators are getting prime seats for free or heavily discounted? That's a good way to piss off regular season ticket holders who are being asked to make extra contributions to secure their existing seats.

Well the backbone, while important, is still in the back. ;)

Agreed.

If Pitino is not replaced with an absolute stud coach, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a significant drop off in ST interest from the Johnnie-Come-Lately crowd.

Alienating loyal fans for the almighty dollar may seem "justified" when the team is balling with Pitino at the helm, but I don't think the AD would keep that same energy if we revert back to our woeful ways with a lame duck coach.

Striking while the iron is hot is expected, but what happens if/when the iron cools off?

I think they pay, but i imagine some higher administrators take it out of their department budgets.

Yeah that makes sense. I was just wondering the quantity of prime seats they are taking up. I guess if Shanley and crew are truly trying to maximize revenue in this new world, they will put a lid on the freeloading.
They all use it to network, bring alums, go to pregames, etc. Everyone's job is to fundraise so it's definitely a legitimate business expense even if you don't like basketball.
