New York Mets 2025 Season

And once again the Mets bullpen quickly blows a lead. Up 3-0 in the top of the 6th, Mendoza pushes all the wrong buttons.
Brings in Brazoban who walks the bases loaded, gives up a sacrifice fly, brings in Castillo who gives up two hits, 3-3, bases loaded, one out. Brings in Garrett, strikes out Acuna, gives up a base hit to Olson, 5-3. Walks Ozuna,

Mendoza has come down with a bad case of Boonitis.
 
Our pitchers out performed for a long time. They are coming back to who they are.

Blackburn and Griffin Canning are not who you want pitching against Chris Sale and Zach Wheeler. Some of our receivers are getting back to normal. Montas was encouraging last night.

Hopefully we will eventually have a staff with Senga, Montas, Manaea, Peterson and Holmes. That should get us to the playoffs but I don’t think this team was built to go further without a lot of luck,

We need to trade for relief pitching and add someone who can hit in the bottom of the lineup as well.

Excellent points Andrew. The template for this team to go further was for the lineup to be way more lethal than it is. Of course, coming into the season, you’d hope you were getting playoff Vientos for this season, but he has struggled and then got hurt. You’d hope Alvarez would live up to the potential he showed as a rookie. You’d hope Winker would help and be productive. Just hasn’t panned out for a lot of these guys. But the great thing about baseball, there is still plenty of time to get right

How do we not keep Quintana? Still mindboggling to me.
