Similar situation with Volpe and the Yankees. They think big swing long ball, when they should be happy to be hitting singles and doubles.
 
McLean has been pitching in long relief out of the bullpen his last two games. He’s been piggy-backing off Montas, but has been coming in mid-inning — which is unusual. Typically, teams will bring in an experienced reliever to end the inning to give the second “starter” a clean inning and a more normal warmup.

Figure Montas has at least 2 more starts and then Manaea will need his share. It’s possible they keep using McLean like that and then call him up as a long reliever/spot starter to get him in the big leagues sooner.
 
This is gonna be a tough game. Gore is an ace in a year. Reminds me of Skubal the year before he blew up.

He is a beast but still young so he makes his mistakes. Get him this year because it'll be the last time we do.

Get Manaea back and hope he is similar to what he was last year… and I think there’s no reason we can’t win it all. Exciting times
 
I feel like in years past we would have just lost this game beginning when it was 0-3. Then we get close at 2-3 but give it back at 2-4. Would have been easy to think not our night.

Not this year. Not this team. This team has many ways to make something positive happen. Best of all is Soto starting to feel dangerous again. Good night all around.
