Peterson was special tonight going into the 8th and Diaz may have had his best outing of the season. They needed this kind of pitching efficiency after last night.

No GKR for one of the biggest regular season series this year - travesty!
He was grossly mishandled getting promoted after 6 AAA games and no 2020 season with Covid.
Totally unfair for him. That kind of move should be reserved only for bonafide superstars — which he obviously is not. AAA is very important for hitters because there are so many veteran pitchers at that level.

Vientos is playing like a muggle.
He damn near fell down fielding that ground ball with the bases loaded.
Mets respond to their struggles big time. Take the last game in Boston, and go win a series against the dodgers.

Enjoyed the game tonight--efficient baseball. Taylor throw in 1st inning to nail Betts at the plate was Huge.
Thought the ESPN coverage was good. Loved having Lindor live from the infield, but I kept worrying oh no don't hit one to him. Also, the close ups from behind the catcher were good; home plate ump really took a hard shot in the 8th or 7th inning.

I found it interesting that Mendoza thought Baty/Acuna defense outweighed giving Vientos his ninth inning at bat
IMO, completely dictated by the score; had the Mets been behind 3-1, I think Vientos bats
It feels like the sky has been falling, but we just took 2/3 from the dodgers and have a stretch of winnable games (with the dodgers mixed in again). We need to rattle off wins versus the White Sox, Rockies, Nationals and TB before seeing the Braves and Phillies. We have a good chance to leave that Phillies series back in first. We just had a brutal scheduling stretch.
We have an easier ROS schedule than the Phil’s including 10 games versus the Phils. Who ever wins more in those 10 likely takes the division. I still like our chances with some arms returning and the bats hopefully waking up.

Today Vientos is out of the lineup again. Mendoza might be sending a message. Time to get going. Baty hits, Baty plays. Vientos might have gotten a little to comfortable. Competition is good. At some point Mauricio might come up and Marky Mark might find himself back at Syracuse. We are not there yet but…he’s been underwhelming this season.
