New York Mets 2025 Season

GIDP

Admittedly starting to get frustrated but I know baseball has ebbs and flows
Senga is toughing it out, could have been alot worse, but only down 3-1 in the 6th.
Your bats need some key hits.

Senga threw 91 pitches, go another inning and that's a quality start: 3 runs in 6 innings.

Yes bats are super sleepy. Series with Rockies/white Sox may be what the doctor ordered

The bats are in a bit time slump.

This is the toughest stretch of the schedule we will have all year. We get an easy stretch after this. On the flip side the Phillies schedule has been (and will continue) to be quite easy for the last couple of weeks. I expect us and the Phil’s to be trading spots all season. The Phils losing their cheating closer helps us.

He ‘s right

Biggest headscratcher.

Unlike other baseball skills, the ability to draw walks does not plunge with age.

He has changed his game dramatically. And I don't know why.

He already has the career contract. Just keep doing what you did to get that contract.

Nimmo has been a tough watch for awhile now. He hit some big homers late in the season last year that saved him from more pointed criticism. For years his batting avg sat right around .270. He has been a .220 hitter for nearly 2 years. We need more. Take away that one game against the Nats this year where he had a million RBIs and his stats this season are concerning.

I'll be interested to see if Soto has learned a lesson that fans expect him to hustle on every play. His huge contract has put him in the spotlight and expect his performance to be 100% on each play. I can't imagine Judge taking off on any play.

The Nimmo contract will haunt us for a while. I was extremely against it at the time...Stearns would have NEVER done that. We pay the guy as an elite centerfield and then move him to left field almost immediately? He also has a complete noodle for an arm. The one thing I was confident he would do is get on base. He's sacrificed that to attack first pitches because he feels the need to add more power.

Reminder: he still has 5 years for 102.5 mill left after this season  Eppler knows less about baseball than half of our posters. He must have been the nicest and coolest guy in the world to get to GM of two teams.

Only positive thing he did here was the Kodai contract

This is .500 team for a month now…just saying.

I do think this it is still within the natural ebb and flow of a 162 game season. We haven't had our preseason #2 and #4 starters pitch a single inning and losing our 8th inning man for the year is tough. Some guys have really stepped up, but you can't expect that to last forever. Megill is probably the best example of that. Every bullpen will go through a stretch like this too.

HUGE! We got an ace for #4 or #5 money. Besides Peterson, we haven't developed a 1, 2, or 3 pitcher since Thor in 2015. That is probably dead last in baseball. The Senga addition mitigated that incompetence quite a bit.

I wouldn't even say I am one of those fans who expects intense hustle for every ball put in play.

But the game against the Yankees was primetime, rubber match on Sunday night baseball, and a 2-2 game in the 8th inning I believe. He hits a ball up the middle that LeMahieu had to cover a lot of ground to get to. A little hustle there and he is likely on base. Even though the Yankees ended up putting up a bunch of runs in the bottom half of the inning, at that point it was tied. Situationally, you can't dog it there. The scrutiny on that play is fair.

I believe Soto will be fine in the long run, but yes the big money always puts heavy expectations on your back. It even took Lindor awhile to endear himself to a chunk of this fanbase. I loved him from the beginning because of his bubbly attitude and infectious love of the game, but there were some growing pains for sure.

I am not in panic mode. My concern right now is the offense. Way too much talent to underperform like this. Sure the defense at times has been horrible Alonso and Vientos in particular. However, this offense should be enough to cover some of the flaws. Last night Senga was struggling. However, he pulled through and gave them 6 innings. Pick him up? No, the offense did….NOTHING. I still believe they will snap out of it. Hopefully, soon.

If you want to feel good, take gander at the absurd talent on the Cyclones right now. Cyclones briefly had Baty, Alavarez and Mauricio together, but this is by far the most talented roster they've ever had top to bottom.

A lot of the team was built by Stearns and his guys in one year — which is insane. Our whole system will be like this in a year or so.
