Knicks

Not even close. As a Celtic fan part of me still doesn't count the Knicks second championship because Havlicek had an injured shoulder throughout the Eastern Conference final.
As a Knicks fan, a part of me doesn’t count the Celtics’ championships during the Russell years because Auerbach never lived up to his end of the deal he promised the Rochester Royals owner for all of the lucrative Ice Capades shows in order to pass on Russell with the first pick.

Havlicek was an amazing player. He was also Chris Mullin’s favorite player, which is why Chris discarded #20 for #17 once he hit the pros. Celts used him as a 6th man for some time, not because he wasn't in the top 5 (he was easily one of their best 2 players) but because as a 6th man he could provide a huge spark in the first quarter and blow games wide open.

Injuries happen. Witness Willis in 1969-70 and Anunoby last year both at bad times. Excuses are tiresome.

In 73, the biggest change was jerry lucas who turned out to be an amazing outside shooter. Reed was very much diminished but was voted mvp of the championship series.

For laughs, check out Lucas' career rebound average.
Just because injuries happen doesn't mean we have to like them. My Celtic fandom began at old MSG on 49th St. at a pro doubleheader in the autumn of 1957, Celts vs. Philly Warriors (pre-Wilt) and Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons with George Yardley. Three teams played one sport and the Celts with Russell and Cousy were an entirely different beautiful fast-break show. Early 70's I lived in Boston and saw more Celts. particularly the Cowens, Havlicek, Paul Silas era. I still remember the Knicks BU era, Butcher, Butler, Budd et al.

Even if you just liked the color green as your justification you'd still be alright with me.
