This is a conversation you need to have with your ticket rep...there need to be some exceptions made for people who have the longevity you have.
At the end of the day, money talks. And in this climate that's the end all be all, i know people don't want to hear that but it's the truth. You don't get a roster like we do any other way. It's the basis for everything they are doing right now. To sustain this type of infusion of talent year over year while Coach Pitino is here and beyond.
While they are putting a lot of weight on donations to the school, basketball program/athletics and NIL, (like everyone else around the country is) if you have two decades as a loyal season ticket holder or more, there should be some kind of additional 10-20k point bump for the sake of sticktuitiveness for a lack of a better word! Just my two cents
Let's be clear. Ticket sales hardly put a dent in the cost of coaches and players in this era. One donor is financing the player payroll to realize his dream of a national championship. Without that we have a HOF coach and a likely good team, not great.
I agree totally that season ticket holders should amass more than 100 points per consecutive seasons of tickets. The school recognizes that but the system is locked in for this reseating. I'm advocating for tweaking the new point system at the highest levels, and I think can get it done - though not in time for this upcoming season.
In the meantime I think the only folks deeply affected will and maybe should be the folks with amazing seats with near zero levels of donations. Even then, at MSG at least, the first 5500 seats are good to great so even if a ticket holder got bounced from courtside (or close) seats, they can still be in good seats at msg. CA is another story though.
Honestly I don't even know what will happen to my seats. I believe i would qualify for better seats but am wary that they could even be worse.
The safest thing to do is to pledge 10-20k which can be paid out over x years, or make an estate gift. If SJU clearly articulated what type of donation is needed to retain same or similsr seats, i believe many STH who even now are expressing financial duress will find a way to make that commitment.
But honestly if there is financial duress getting moved to cheaper seats may provide relief.
In any event, right now we are the best value ticket in town - HOF coach, championship caliber roster, playing home games at the mecca of basketball.
