Incredile defense with great pitching is a great combo. It looks like the bats will be enough. The difference to me is this team hustles. They are always taking an extra base. They said on tv last week we lead the league in going first to third and scoring from 2nd. Getting those extra bases and runs makes a huge difference.

If it wasn't for chronic pessimism, there would be no pleasant surprise.... as occasional and fleeting as they are.
You guys would understand this. I am walking around the supermarket with a Mets cap on. Guy approaches me with that forlorn Mets fan look. At the time the Mets were actually playing well. Something like 9-3 or 4. Guy tells me in no specific order that Soto isn’t good (lol) and he can’t handle NYC and they shouldn’t have resigned Alonso (OMG) and that they will miss the playoffs. (Yikes) My only response was “what have they done to you” the Mets are going to win damn near 100 games. Playoffs? WS who knows?
Here’s the thing. I find that “younger” fans like my now 31 year old son have never seen the Mets win much if at all are far more pessimistic. Maybe I am not as jaded because I can always draw on the 1986 team that just kicked ass on everyone well at least until the playoffs. But wow the last 40 years has really destroyed “optimism” and made most the black cloud crew. Like St. John’s the Mets have an Owner who cares and money to burn. A new ERA is upon us. In both cases we are about to piss the haters off. This is fun and it is good.
All that being said we are not the favorites. The Dodgers are. Let the pressure sit with them. Enjoy the Season. We have a real shot here.

It seems Minter is done for the season. David Roberson is available as a free agent. Just a thought.
They signed LHP Brooks Raley who was with the Mets and then had TJ surgery. Allegedly he’s recovered and might be here in a month or so.
RHP Dednial Nunez is working back as well.
Not sure what Stearns thinks of Robertson whom we dealt at the deadline in 2023. He’s not on a roster right now.

Baseball is a crazy game. Before the game I was thinking this would be a tough night. Bullpen game and some guy from AAA vs Burnes. Figured Dbags would get 3 or 4 early and Burnes would keep us in check. That’s NOT what we got.
Coulda won this game. Stanek faltered and we gave up insurance runs that killed us. One more hit in the 9th and we win. Damn. Can’t win ‘em all. Hopefully, today is a new day.

We'd be crazy not to sign Robertson - rubber arm and loves pitching in NY.
Eppler was also the one who traded Robertson, not Stearns.
Curious to see what we do. Even Waddell looked good last night. lol.
Manaea returning will also force a squeeze and we already have Nunez in AAA. So I wouldn't be shocked if we do nothing.
