Yankees 2025 Season

Would like to see either Leiter or Cruz get a shot at closer.

Weaver, IMO, is too valuable in his current role. I'll go with him as the closer if I have to, but I prefer him as a multi-inning (meaning four outs or more) "ace reliever." Have him face the dangerous part of the opposing lineup whenever they come up in a close game, 7th inning or later (which could be the ninth, sometimes).
If Williams was last years Williams, we could have 96 all over again.
Mariano for 2 innings - Wetteland, Weaver for 2 - Williams.

Just a 6 inning game.

And, when Wetteland got hurt that year (in August, I think), and missed a few weeks, they moved Rivera to closer. He was fine, but many games were dropped because the people taking Rivera's role just weren't up to the workload.

Conversely, when MO got hurt in 2012, they moved Rafael Soriano (who had been injured, and ineffective for a year-plus) to closer, and kept David Robertson in the 8th inning role. They went on to win 95 games.

Moving Weaver to closer might just create other issues. It's early enough in the season, IMO (and the Yankees do lead the AL East, btw), that I think they can still try to have their cake, and eat it too, WRT the bullpen situation.

Unless guys like Jazz, Wells, Volpe, Belli and Dominguez start hitting in the near future, the management of the bullpen will be paramount because they need to lock down these low scoring games and can’t blow them.

Volpe hustled out of the box gets a double. Knew with 2 outs he would try for second. Didn’t know you were still allowed to run hard out of the batters box after hitting the ball.

Yanks up 10-1, wouldn't mind Williams pitching in the 8th and 9 run lead.

I know I was looking at next years schedule, I guess I put this post there, my bad.

Gausman was in a giving mood today. Nice to see Volpe and Wells have big bounceback games. Fried grinded his way through 6. Great win. Need to get the back end as well.

Yes, their batting averages are not good, but look at their ob base percentages. The Yankees routinely field a lineup of six guys with a on base percent over .300. On base means runners on.

Good day in the Bronx. Lot's of good pitching, nice 2 out hits in the 2nd game. Won the series. Let's go win a series in Baltimore.

15 K’s tonight by our lineup.
Yuck.
So typical of this team. The at bats were terrible tonight. The Orioles were a dead team coming into tonight. We let their starter off the hook in the 1st inning. Can't be losing to bad teams.

Warren can't be walking 2 batters to start an inning. And he needs to finish an inning when he gets the first 2 outs.

Grisham plays too shallow for my liking.

Geez, Chisholm is absolutely horrible. Needs to cut down on the strikeouts and put the ball in play to utilize his legs.

Bellinger not much better. Couldn't make an out in spring training, now can't get anything going.
