Boogie (Days And) Nights

While I still believe getting Boogie is a pipe dream, while a great player, may not be a good mix for the current roster. At this point we have 5 or 6 potential 20 ppg scorers. What the team needs is a distributor ( Darling). And yes while I’ve said that a point guard can be a prolific scorer, adding a score first guard like Boogie next to Jackson, Hopkins, Sonon, Sellers and Zuby may be too much. Those players will need to get the balll and if Boogie were looking at an NBA future he may feel the pressure of having to score which may hurt the team dynamics/chemestry.

When Tom iIzzo was asked in a post game interview how he was able to beat a Duke team With Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett and another NBA top draft pick whose name escapes me, his comment was….”there’s only one ball”.

As long as we have a back up post player, this roster, as is, is certainly capable of winning it all.

If ESPN New York/Jets YouTube content creator Jake Asman was a moderator here he would send Silly Donovan to the Shadow Room for a very silly Boogie Fland post.

Saying Dylan Darling’s presence would keep SJU from going after Boogie Fland is like saying Precious Achuwa’s presence would keep Knicks from going after Jokic

You’re mis interpreting my post. I was questioning why Pitino would sign Darling after announcing that Jackson was his point guard and if he had any knowledge that he had a legit shot at getting Fland (which I’m sure he and Matt are on top of).

I never implied that Darling would be a priority over Boogie.

I'm not missing your point, just think it is nuts. NOTHING, including CRP coach speak that Jackson is locked in as his PG, is going to block a spot for an extraordinary talent like Boogie Fland.

) What a disaster. While 99% of the NIL money has been exaggerated it's still outta control. Its so dishonorable its crazy.
2) I usually only get MAYBE a text or two about a kid thats not mine or affects one of my kids(school were looking at, same position ect...) but gotten SO many texts about this Darling kid. Tenn, Gonzaga, LSU, UGA, BYU, Clemson so many were trying to get in on him. As I posted I was given the heads he would kill the workout. People are raving about his swag, vastly underrated athlete, work ethic, creativity ...again never heard of the kid but from what Ive heard hes more than a 12-15 min a game kid. They think hes legit.
3) I appreciate all the RJ/Boogie dm's but I really wont talk about it since its all speculation for now.

Love to hear that. That says a ton

Always appreciate the insight! We got makings for a special year.

The key words: at 18 years old. Do you realize that Jonathan Kuminga is only 22 years old?. It seems like he played with Michael Jordan. That’s the point CRP tried to make with RJ. Don’t wait too long. Take your shot. You might get hurt, etc.
That’s why Boogie will not be a college basketball player next year.

That's crazy Kuminga is only 22! It honestly feels like he was a Norm longshot recruit.

I think it’s interesting that so much time and energy is wasted on a thread based on an improbable supposition. First of all Boogie is focused on the draft. Second of all, if he doesn’t go when he wants to in the draft, if Cal wants him back, I’m sure he can match and outbid whatever Pitino does so why change. And thirdly, what makes you think Pitino wants Boogie? Did you ever stop to think that part of the deal in getting Jackson to commit (remember it took a while?) was that Coach agreed to play him at point? Pitino went out of his way to make a grand statement as such.
Remember this post?

I’m with you Silly. A guarantee is that Matt A. spoke with Boogie’s Agent. That discussion went something like this:
Matt: why is Boogie in the Portal? And is he interested in STJs ?

Agent:He’s in the Portal because you never know if he has a medical red flag, or re injures his thumb during the evaluation process.
Matt: why not go back to Arkansas if that happens?
Agent: Cal recruited over him, Wagner is coming back, and Tyson is worried about the Bird Flu outbreak.
Matt: ok, keep me posted, but we have Ian Jackson running the point.
Agent: Boogie will be fine. Team So and So has promised (the Nets) that they will draft him with one of their late first round picks. And his thumb is fine.
Both: ok. Bye.
Reality: Boogie and RJ are not coming through that door.

I'll offer a different reason why I'd like to see DD have a decent sized role on next years' team...it offers a small amount of continuity for him to roll into his senior year as the legit starting point guard if he proves himself in his junior year. How many of our stud transfer class will be here beyond next season? How many freshmen do we have coming in? So to me, regardless of Boogie, I like bringing in a junior that put up great numbers in a weaker conference with the idea that this could potentially work out for more than a one and done season.

There's absolutely nothing about Boogie on a basketball court that would warrant any concern whatsoever about being a good mix with any team. I am also not sure how/why you categorize Darling as a distributor (13.6 FGA and 5.7 assists) and Boogie as score first (12.0 FGA and 5.1 assists).
