SJU Offseason Thread (portal and recruiting discussions)

I dont think your right about any rule change being implemented regarding re-entering the portal after signing paperwork.

There's an entire section here dedicated to flipping people who have already signed officially with schools, and it says there's a lot less latitude once they're enrolled.

"Still, according to several sources, many programs are actively working to make pitches to players who have already committed to other schools to make them reconsider, often dangling significant raises from the deals they agreed to just a few weeks before.

“‘Committed’ is a loose term,” one staffer joked.

There’s far less latitude to move around once players officially enroll in classes at their new campuses this summer. At least one program SI spoke to had changed their summer report date from previous years in order to shrink the window of time that their portal commits could be tampered with. But until players enroll, they technically remain in the portal even if they’ve made commitments or even signed financial agreements with new schools. Expect talent-hungry schools to exploit as many loopholes as possible to create advantages."
Yeah I get it I maybe mistaken again I can't remember where I read it but the rule was that you were still in the Portal even after you signed but that was set to change. Maybe it didn't get changed.

Quin and ledlum weee Grads and that was a different set of rules. DKs Glen Taylor wasn’t though and he fits the same scenario if the rules weren’t adjusted.
Rules were adjusted this year and the same rule applies to both grads and undergrads.

Time to enter the Portal and be eligible for next year for both grads and undergrads (has has ended unless the coach leaves which opens a 30 day period a grad or undergrad can transfer.

Yes but the scenario DK and Fordham are debating is different and unclear.

Any talk of adding a big man to replace Vince?
If we face a team like Florida or Michigan had last season. Zuby would have his hands full. Id like to get someone that could help for 5-7 minutes per game.

I imagine that's a tough thing to recruit for at the moment given most teams need starting big men or 20+ minute bench big men. But have to think there's a plan and riding the bench for a top 5-10 team and learning under Pitino can be attractive to the right guy
