Coaching Carousel

believe he followed it up with it being BS and a leverage for an extension and more $ which is usually par for the course after winning a ring
So much bullshit info out there re portal, players, coaches and food at Marillac Hall.

True, but McDermott is honorable, Jim B isn’t.

McDermott has great skill in recruiting the right pieces every year that make the Jays competitive as BE Contenders and usually a NCAA Tourney team every year
He has a great eye for getting Players that can shoot , I. e. Scheirman, Ashworth , etc
Who are often Players from lesser known schools in the Midwest and further West .
He knows exactly the type of Player and personality that fits his Program and Creighton’s standards
It’s interesting the difference that exists among Coaches in Recruiting . I doubt McDermott has ever pursued a Player from the NY, NJ or , northeast Area .
And , it makes sense , why would a Player like Jackson for example , think about going to Creighton in Omaha ? He wouldn’t .
Same way , Pitino is unlikely to recruit a Player from North Dakota , like Scheirman . Although , he might for a Special Player .
Mark Few too , ever hear a NY or NE player opt to go to Seattle and play for Gonzaga ?
Hardly .
Brady Dunlap , was already a ND commit before RP took the Redmen job . And , there was a Coaching change from Brey who left .
Brady’s Dad , jumped at the chance for him to come and play for Rick .
So , Brady , though a California kid , followed Dad’s advice and came to Jamaica
It’s unfortunate that his injury this season , curtailed his development and he didn’t get a chance to play for us .
And , it seems Brady would have only gotten limited playing time next year , with the Portal players coming in .
He will play more elsewhere .

Sorry for temporary Paragraph regression . It was temporary disruption .

Technical difficulties .

i think it would also make sense he would get legitimate NBA coaching interest.
given the way both NBA and NCAA are changing their approach to coaching, I may understand it but it's been NBA guys to NCAA, rarely the other way. And the other way hasn't worked out much.

Golden while just winning a title, is he really attractive already for NBA jobs? Not buying it much...I bet he parlays it into being a top 10 paid coach in the sport

NBA staff leaving for college head coaching gigs yes, not head coaches though. The nba is always going to be a destination IMO. Not saying Golden is going to denver but the nba is always going to be looking for the next coach and will always have plenty of money to throw. But agree Golden will get paid extremely well regardless.

McDermott recruited Ponds I believe and I saw him in another gym. He was sitting right behind me but don’t remember where. I am getting old.

Suns fired Budenhozer or whatever his name is.

Todd Golden is from Phoenix
I don't know who's going to be their next coach.

I don't think it will be anybody high-profile. That owner is from the Goerge Steinbrenner/Lou Lamarillo school of changing coaches.

Time flies.
  • Was also an AAU teammate of Lewis and several other Division I players, including Bryan Antoine (Villanova), Aidan Igiehon (Louisville) and Jalen Gaffney (UConn).
A relative of Klatsky ran that AAU squad.

We should've hired him to finally have a chance at Igiehon transferring in.
