Available Lead Guards

Do we have any idea why he only played 9 games senior year? What was the injury? His stats were slightly down from junior year across the board in limited games.

I listened to a Kentucky podcast about him and heard he was injured his senior year. The thought was at Kentucky he would have played 15-20 minutes a game.

Obviously two different players with different skill sets but isn’t this kid ranked about the same as Sim was coming out of HS? Sim was nowhere near ready for big minutes. Also, don’t love that this kid jumped ship at Kentucky rather than compete for PT, but I guess that’s the way of things now.

All that said, I’d love to get this kid. But I hope we still go after another pg in the portal.

I looked at some guards ranked similarly last year. Some were really good (Robert Wright, Jase Richardson, Pettiford). Other played more limited roles. It would be a big risk but maybe paired with a slightly less heralded point guard might work.

I should add in this market he will be a big NIL investment. There must be a lot of teams with interest.

Agree with Boo and yourself that adding another PG on top of Lewis would make me feel safer about it. But then the question arises, what minutes are left for Sim?

Once all the players are signed. Pitino is going to play the players who are going to do what helps the team win. If it is Wilcher then he will play more than someone who is not . And if the talent level is as strong as it seems it is going to be. The cream will rise to the top.

Agree. And I am just 100% speculating, but I can understand if players see the writing on the wall and don't stay to see if they're the cream.

I've always felt the roster, as is, had the room for one point guard for 30mpg.

Not too much on that front from Trilly himself aside from him putting Wagner on his probable portal list last month and then saying he expects us to be involved if/when he does portal when someone asked him a week or two ago.

Wagner's name and potential connection here has been mentioned by others in the discord who seem to have varying degrees of inside info as well as others who claim to but clearly don't.
