I think Rick's consistent public criticisms of Ayo about defense this year is to pump him up for the role. His defense does have a ways to go to get there, but I think he's got the potential. Not sure about him guarding 4s like Scott though.

Hindsight is 20/20 and we have it in the Arkansas game just as we have it in the Laetner game. Johnnies were on a 20 to 9 run prior to the inexplicable. Arkansas on an 11 to 4 run immediately after.

RJ was coming to life and scored 5 of his 9 total points in rhe 2.5 minutes prior to the inexplicable. He scored 0 from the bench.

Sorry, I am going with Rick on this one. He actually has won some games!

Rick Pitino says St. John's is working on a home and home with Louisville. Plan is to play them at MSG next season and go there the following year. Also working on exhibition games against Michigan at MSG and at Kentucky. Also, talking to Iona about a game at the Garden.

He plays for the name on the front. As a result, the name on the back prospers (especially against DePaul).

Agreed. Scott was also a senior with 72 starts entering this season. Ayo was a redshirt sophomore with 4 starts. I bet if you put Ayo on North Texas for 3 years their stats would be very similar.

I think he plays great on 4s. He’s very strong already and has room to grow there. I see his max potential as a 4/3 at 220 lbs or so.

I think MSG should only be for high-majors and, at very worst, (cream of the crop) A10 + MWC. Just think its a total waste.

If having Iona limits their opportunities for other MSG games then I'd agree. If they get 10,000 + you think its a waste? I was all for packing Carnesecca and making it as tough as possible for other teams, but we built a legitimate home court advantage over at MSG this season.

We should hopefully get 14k at minimum next year. But we only have so many games we can play at MSG, and its a great lure for high major programs to come, I'd rather use those limited opportunities to beef up the OOC.
