Not for nothing, but why wouldn’t money be his and his family’s top priority? And, that goes for ANY player, not just him. Who can blame him for trying to maximize his worth, life can change quickly, especially for a guy who hasn’t made real money yet.

It should be his top priority. But he’s not going to be a first round pick and if he transfers the grass isn’t always greener. Could make more short term but hurt himself longterm. I think he’s making a mistake.

But the greenbacks will be greater. Thats the agents job

I agree. But he's 20 years old and people are dangling big money in front of him. Also in his ear about the Ark game. Making him feel wanted and propping his ego. At my age I see through that but when I was 20 I'd do the same thing.

Feel like a broken record, but I hope there is a middle ground to bring him back. If he leaves then I wish him the best. His play this year Gabe me great joy.

Beast and Carmine’s comments are ones I support 100 percent .

Pitino decided to lose the game at 4:56 remaining in a 2 point game .

The team he put on the floor at that time , Zuby , Scott , Smith , Lefty and Prey gave us no chance to win .
And , that is totally on him .

No matter how poorly RJ played up to then . In the last 5 minutes , he and Zuby might have mounted a run to win the game late .
As we had done in so many other close games all year .
Yep. It sure was uncharted territory and beyond strange. I would like to know what really happened.

Hopefully this will work out for us. Lots of opportunities and money out there for RJ to consider and grab. I think he is a year away from serious consideration for the NBA. Return for another year of player development under Professor Pitino and enhanced your chances of sticking in the NBA, rather than an overseas career.

His family sat baseline on the SJU side during the tournament. They are so appreciative of what his 2 years here did for him. They’ll be plenty of shitty posts from no name Twitter accounts calling him a sellout for leaving but everyone would make the same decision.

He gave us the best year from a player since the 80’s. He’s a SJU legend and I hope we treat him as one
They did not sit on baseline. His mom is a very nice lady unless this lady lied and told me she was his mom and all the family she introduced wearing #12 shirts were fake. Nice try though.

Reminder to all the snowflakes on the board who continue to mope around and are embarrassingly filled with self pity.

Put your big boy pants on.

To paraphrase Job (at least I hope it was Job), the portal giveth and the portal taketh away. The staff has a dozen contingency plans set. Losing RJ, either by the NBA or another school always hovered.

Sure we all want RJ back. Foolish not to. But I think the team will be better next year. This is not a case where we lose a great player and then doomsday. The program is now in a place where they will replace one great player with another of equal or greater talent.

Pitino, (who thankfully has a massive ego), wants to win so badly here to give one last, big middle finger to all those who said his career was done while exiled in Greece.

Now, go resume pee standing up.
Sure, Job had like $8 million in NIL money, easy for him to be philosophical.

Or perhaps advancing in the Ncaa's was a top priority.
What's done is done. RJ could have stayed in and saved the day. Or he could have continued down his same path.

I'll ask this question. What happens if he played that last 5 minutes and we lost anyway with him going 4 for 22? Rick pulls him and now Rick is seen as the villain and RJ the victim. RJ on the court and continuing at the rate he was going would have become the scapegoat. The guy who choked in the biggest game of his life.

I am still of the opinion Rick did what was best in the moment.
