NCAA Tournament Thread

Perhaps, but his attire is puzzling.

In truth, this season I was just angry at Shaka. And every time I watched them I got angrier.

He had Kam Jones, David Joplin and Stevie Mitchell (a particular LMF favorite) who are absolutely wonderful players. He had Chase Ross who is really good. But the point is that he had 3 terrific seniors who stayed loyal to him for 4 years and who deserved a shot at real success. All he needed to do was give them a capable 5 man. Someone who could defend the rim and dunk. Slamson Johnson would have been fine. Someone like Tyrese Samuel or Oduro. He didn't need a world beater, just a mobile big who would protect the paint and couldn't be ignored on offense.

Instead he gave them Ben Gold, who's absolute trash. And he had no excuse for not knowing that Ben Gold is trash because he coached Gold last year and he had to know he was trash.

So he sabotaged a terrific group of his own seniors either out of arrogance or incompetence. They lost on senior night. They lost in the BET. They got booted in the first round of the NCAA (a Shaka specialty).

Those kids deserved better than that. Just not fair to them.

My view of him to date has basically been that he does a lot of things right but he's overrated in that people seem to put him in the conversation with guys who can actually coach which he has yet to develop the ability to do. But now he has earned active dislike by screwing a really great group of players that I enjoyed watching and who deserved better than he gave them.

End of rant, along with the end of the Marquette season. I hope Jones, Joplin and especially Mitchell find good fortune in their next steps and are part of high level success at some point wherever they land.

Barring Bryant beating Michigan state, this will be a round of 64 with no true shocker upset. The 12/5 upsets that happened were pretty popular upset picks

On top of that, can’t think of one thriller game that will be played in March madness montages for years to come. Been a pretty weak start to the tourney in terms of entertainment

Can’t say I care much as long as SJU is in that final 16
Cue the Bryant 3 from the logo for the upset.

Good post. It almost felt that Shaka was trying to be smartest guy in the room and defiant about not filling an obvious void to the detriment of the team.

You were callin it before the draw… if they could hit some 3s… they could have a decent lead
6th tallest team in the country. Two high major guards with size as upperclassmen. Just have a lot of things you wouldn’t expect in that league.

Ball and McNeeley on the bench for UConn. If OU is going to make a run, now is the time.

On a separate note, the blond kid on Oklahoma looks like one of the mean rich kids in an 80's movie. Like he would've been part of James Spader's crew, trying to make moves on Andrew McCarthy's girl.

Bryant, Baylor, New Mexico, Yukon, Xavier.

Lots of St. John’s victims and some teams that beat us on the card today. Yet, we were told we had a bad SOS.
