2025 BIG EAST TOURNAMENT

Diarra can’t do anything right. Basically shit his pants when he saw how much bigger Neal was.

Not really fair to Diarra. He's a solid player. He's a 3rd guard or a 6th or 7th man off the bench on a good team. And he isn't really a PG.

Hurley just put him in an impossible situation due entirely to Hurleys arrogance (which has basically been the problem with that team from the beginning).

It's as if we had Naheim Alleyne playing point for our team this year. Wrong spot for the player.

I watched the last 7 minutes of the game on the train going home. I mentioned what happened at the end of the game and he said “it must have been Neal.”

The guy’s father was a high school teammate of Bob Cousy and played for Frank McGuire at St. John’s in the 40’s.

He is a retired NBA scout, who also coached at Westhampton and Suffolk Community College Selden. Real interesting guy.
Sounds like Rich Wrase, who was a really good coach.

Haven’t posted since the end of the game because I got home from the game and re-watched it then went to bed. That was one of if the best sports experiences of my life. Absolutely electric crowd and electric play in the second half. So proud of these men, let’s keep this thing going. See you all in Providence (hopefully)!

this gets me even angrier. Keep in mind I'm 3 hours out from Sushi in Penn so I had to be in a good mood to order sushi in Penn

How does he not go to jail for this call. He's a racist translator

shocked he didn't give Smith a T for a pistol sign
This is an outrage. Two FTs and a personal and team foul could easily have cost us the game. If this guy knew a damned thing about RJ, a soft spoken, faith filled kid. A kid who prays during the national anthem. A kid who begins every interview by giving thanks, praise and glory to God.

As a ref at this level and magnitude of game you'd better be damned sure a gesture was offensive before blowing the whistle. I hope he apologizes publicly and privately.

He deserves a double technical and ejection from the rest of this season. Knowing RJ, he would likely just forgive the guy.

Here is the tech photo Breeding said was a gunView attachment 4483

Everyone in my section was livid over the call.

And I'm not giving the ref any benefit of any doubt. The ref knew exactly what he was doing. He knew RJ was chucking up a three point symbol, like every other player in the NCAA. Later for that guy, no business officiating games at this (or any other) level.

Call me harsh, but that _ _ _ _ (choose your word) could have cost us the game, SOMETHING HE ABSOLUTELY KNEW.

Agree. Can’t make that call in a big game like that in a tight situation. The type of call that could have changed the outcome of the game. Luckily, our boys responded and it had the reverse affect. Very suspect to me.

Breeding has been a awful Official all year . He’s had help though as the other Refs in the BE are below grade in my opinion .

Not canning fouls on Kalkbrenner is outrageous. One time RJ went to the Rim and Kalk came over and blocked the Shot but , also clobbered RJ across the Arm. No Call !

They rarely ever call Creighton for their moving screens , especially Kalk.

Breeding T’s up RJ for the 3 Finger shot and he and his Crew let Ashworth get away with that violent push on Smith .
They called a foul but , no T?

At least , in the 2nd half they called the Jays as tightly as the called them on us.

Creighton was clearly worn down by their 2 earlier games but , hey , that’s what a 3 day Tournament does .

Kalk had little impact or stamina in the 2 nd half and Ashlworth was horrid . Fatigue !
He dribbled around too much and it was easy to defend them as a result .

They had nothing left ion the tank .

At 6 pm tonight , the Selection Committee will get their final instructions from the SEC as to whether to invite 10 or 11 teams .

And , also make sure Auburn , Florida and Alabama get 1 seeds along with Duke .
Even Tennesse gets screwed . Houston too .

But , how about us ? We dominated the BE so strongly we dropped good teams lime Creighton , McQ and UCONN, Xavier almost out of the rankings .

funny I slept like a baby first time all season, maybe because felt like I was dreaming the last 7 minutes of the game and thereafter!
Right. Last 7 minutes was just a prolonged version of "ball don't lie" after that dopey tech called on RJ. Just a great night and year for some of the world's longest suffering fans. God bless us every one...

Re: Refs

I loathe Creighton for this reason, and this reason alone. Awesome coach, but the refs make it too easy for me to detest that team. Anyone with an ounce of a basketball acumen knows they foul. Yes, McDermott coaches them up well, but you'd think Kockbrenner walked on water the way he is favored. Moot point, as we sent Kock and his Uncle Ashworth home with a fat L.

Re: SEC

Very interested in seeing how this situation plays itself out... I would be stunned if the committee doesn't bend the knee to the almighty SEC, the best conference in the history of all history.

It seems the NCAA is being run by the SEC these days . Followed by the Big 10 and what a joke that is with Teams spread out from the Pacific Ocean to S,.Brunswick , NJ .

And , of course in BB , the Dookies and UNC always get Special treatment from the Committee .

The BE ? Despite 4 NCAA titles in 10 years from Nova and UCONN , we get NO respect .

It’s outrageous they are laughing about the SEC. Getting 10 or 11 teams into the Tournament .
Watch it happen .

And , the seeding will be equally lopsided too .

Count on it .

You're preaching to the choir, sir. My disdain for the SEC (and P2 as a whole) is unmatched. I share your sentiments, and a few others, lol.

I've recently caught some slack for flooding these boards with my stances on the SEC, so I will only add this:

One thing you're wrong about is this notion that the SEC will get a mere 10-11 teams in the dance. They won't. They will get 13-14...

The irony of him making this bad call was that the team just unleashed after that and there was no looking back. Pitino handled the bad call very well if that was Hurley I could only imagine what would have happened. That ref needs to apologize or get fired.

Are you guys really surprised about the love for the SEC? The NcAA cares about the only thing they have ever cared about, where the $ is and right now it is with the SEC and that is not going to change anytime soon, if ever.
The BE is far from dictate mode, closer to mid-major; it truly sucks but that is reality. The saving grace IMO is that there are a lot of great players, you need a much smaller roster obviously for basketball and NIL somewhat levels the playing field.

Yeah, I was talking with a guy next to me about this, calling the ref, "the sixth man."

His performance reminded me of some of the hose jobs I've experienced in CFB. Nothing worse than "the twelfth man" influencing the outcome of a game - witnessed this in the 2002 NC when Terry Porter gifted OSU a NC. I loathe Porter to this day, and will never have a nice thing to say about him. I don't want to get sidetracked, because there are other instances...

Back to last night:

Ref should apologize, be required to go back to ref school, and be demoted - at the very least. No room in sports for swindlers like him to be calling games.
