Awesome game. Creighton came out with energy but then wilted as the game went on, as expected.
In the first half Kalkbrenner was just shutting the entire lane down. Our guys couldn't do anything.
2nd half Pitino's adjustment was to have Zuby constantly body and seal Kalk off allowing our guys room to get the ball up at the rim. It was masterful. Kalk was essentially neutralized and we were getting whatever we wanted in the paint.
RJ completely took over in the 2nd half too.
That Breeding tech was absolutely egregious. Not only was he wildly wrong about what RJ did but still he has to know the situation and swallow the whistle there. Don't call a tech in 2nd half of a tight championship game for something that tame. Take RJ aside at the next whistle and tell him not to do it again.
Eyes almost welled up at the horn. Going to Carnesecca during the end of Jarvis through Norm and beyond and watching them lose to the likes of St Francis, Illinois State etc. makes this so sweet. Will save the waterworks for making the final 4.
Rick Pitino.
