Holloway is some coach. Those offensive sets he ran were great

Would love to pluck him in 4 years when Pitino hangs it up
Don’t bet on Rick retiring in 4 years! If he really gets things humming here he will hang in for as long as he can! I believe he wants another National Championship to add to his resume!

Pulled a couple of hamstrings jumping up and down at Uconn game, sore back from the drives to and from Delaware, and then yesterday shoulder pain from wiping away the tears of joy. Eyes are burning from reading every post in Red.fan. But its all worth the 40 year wait and i get a week off to recover. Hope i dont lose my edge waiting for Marquette game but i feel CRP will get me back in top shape for the “Tournaments”!

Running players off screens?

Holloway is 2-17. Half the coaches in the league with that group have more wins by several.

Fan of Sha Asa young coach, but he has presided over an embarrassment.

And his offensive “system” is among the biggest thing his critics point to.

It’s not a popular opinion on here, but Wusu would have been an unreal depth piece for Pitino. He can cover 5 spots and eat everyone’s lunch/chick-fil-a.

Coleman is a player. Might need to call him up to varsity next year.
I think DAW would have worked for Pitino as a bench guy, no doubt.

Hall fans hate him, but he was easily their best kid on the court yesterday. And has been their best or second best player all year plus was a valuable starter last.

He’s not at SJU because of his own conduct, but from a purely basketball perspective I agree. And crowd gave him a nice little ovation too.

As for Sim, he needs 10 pounds of muscle yesterday. Seton Hall is a bad matchup for him. He would have been bouncing off Wusu like freshmen with fake IDs bounce off Maher during last call at the IPA stand.

His defense is key to next season and I don’t know how a transfer can replace that year 1. His shooting will obviously improve. He’s showing ton of high end dribble moves.

Think of where Zuby was a junior. We need a PG…retain Sim.

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday- what could he have become under Pitino? 18pts, 4 steals, 7 assists yesterday. Had he made a few more of his free throws, the game could have gone the other way.

Totally agree on all of it. Guys just need to be in the right roles. I’ll take Malik Boothe on any team ever. That might be 10 minutes though. I’d never want him out there 30.

Diarra of UConn is a good example of that. He was so good in that 15 mpg hold-the-line role, but he’s brutal as a starter.

On the positive side, Witcher’s family loves SJU. They are fans of the program.

From a “playing NBA 2k” perspective, agree. The fit on paper makes a lot of sense. But intangibles-wise, don’t see it.

He’ll be back, get stronger embracing off season conditioning program, learn from this season & appreciate the opportunity he has. Lastly, imo he’ll mature emotionally over time with some coaching guidance. Hopefully he finishes the season strong. Stats to me are less important than Sim hitting some key shots, making timely passes and defending well. He has proven quite capable of doing that and expect him to step up in the post season.

We had another mercurial guard, highly touted, that got to the point of being impossible to deal with as a sophomore. Different circumstance because that kid had to play big minutes from the jump on a bad team. With a coach who had his positives for sure but isn’t Pitino.

I didn’t know if he would mature, and thought he might be gone after year 2, but he returned, grew up and is an all time fave.

Let’s hope Sim goes that same path (and to be fair, he isn’t dealing with anywhere near the demons or issues our boy D-LO seemed to have faced in year 2).

Sim belongs playing under RP.

Thought same re: Wusu. . .the team manager issue” aside, I think he would fit well w/Pitino.

Not sold on Coleman

A lesson to learn from this one. Lay off the bulletin board material. "Should we cut down the nets or not"; "I don't want to celebrate against my old team but it will be done.";etc. They was all fired up.

Wusu is real good. Until he noticeably got tired late, he was unstoppable.

We were fortunate to find the ever rare opponent we can out shoot from the foul line.

Congrats to all on the title!

Agree 100%. The "he'll mature emotionally over time" will be the key to his success. He has the skills but needs to focus and not "wave his arms", "complain to the refs" and get frustrated with every foul called against him. If he is receptive to the coaching he will be fine. Next year is the opportunity for him.
