@Butler, Wed., Feb. 26 , 9p, CBSSN

IF St. John’s beats SH they will have about a week off. On one hand they need some rest, on the other inactivity and staying sharp is a real thing. Players can also get injured in practice.

I don’t know I’d defer to the HOF Coach and how he approaches it. Lord knows he’s had plenty experience getting teams to peak just in time for the big dance.

I was puzzled why Wilcher didn’t seem to get many minutes last night Vs Butler ?

Clearly wasn’t Smith’s best game . He was lazy with the Ball a few times and got stripped and his shot wasn’t falling , neither was Scott’s before the injury

Butler played 2 big guys against us at times . Both of whom looked like they were recruited from the Indy Colts OL. The one who looked like Jake the Snake Roberts hit some outside shots and bullied our guys around in the 1st half .

He resembled the guy at PC last year who went off for like 30 against Joel and Zuby .

Teams with 2 bigs that are bigger than Zuby create some rebounding problems for us .

We escaped with a W and it was hard fought but , this team has a quality that rises in close games .
To Matta’s credit , he had a very good game plan and should quell any critics that he’s lost his fastball .

As some have said , up until that last foul , Kolby King had a big game for Butler . Tim Brando would be proud .

On to SH on Saturday .

It was the new uniform/new hairdo game.

Was out on the town in a place oft frequented by 114 types, Huntington, and only saw the last 10 minutes.

I turn on the tele and see Vince is getting extended run in a nail biter. Where's Zuby I wonder? Groin injury, foul trouble, eloped? Foul trouble yes, but only 3 and it's the 4th quarter now. Turns out the HOF coach, that sees all the practices and individual skill sessions, in his infinite wisdom is putting his chips down not on foul troubled Zuby, or Pray, or Marillayo...but on board whipping boy Vince. Hmm? This ain't hockey. I haven't heard plus minus referenced this much since they kicked me off the Islanders fan board. 3 for 5; 7 points; 3 boards; 0 turnovers in 14 minutes. Vince wins this key road wins 6th man award hands down. He's not the backup center on a way sub .500 Norm team. He's the backup center on a 16 and 2 BE champion!

Shout out Vince - appreciate you. Respect yo!
Speaking of hockey, I thought that guy Kapke threw more hip checks on screens than I see on Ranger games. I know refs aren’t calling moving screens much anymore, but this guy was doing it constantly. Also he comes in at 57% on free throws and goes 5 for 5 against us.

We are ranked #7 and frankly if we win out the rest of the season we should be a 2-seed. All games should count and final rank should factor in.
Yes, a BE conference and tourney champ w/ 32 or so wins should and will be a 2 seed ("old days" a 1).

I like Sim but has a tendency to commit silly fouls. Did it again last night with a reach 30 feet from the basket which became a 1:1 with shot clock ticking down. Needs to play smarter.

I don’t know. God forbid any of these guys who are banged up get some kind of worse injury and are out the rest of the season from a game that means basically nothing, that would be pretty crappy in my eyes.

lol, I’m not saying they should throw the game, I’m just saying guys like Richmond, Luis, Scott, etc…maybe shouldn’t play 40min. I don’t know why I have to spell that out.
i hear the "we don't lose" crowd... i really do- but if we wrap the League up on Saturday... im am all for sitting KR/RJ/Dev/Scott... whoever...

give em 2 weeks off... get ready for 3 wins in 3 days.... its not like we'd be chasing an Undefeated record... im cool with 17-3... you guys? I'm confident we don't fall below a 3 seed in the Dance.

The defensive rebounding is becoming more of a concern. Zuby, in 2 of the last 3, has had one DR. Those extra possessions are back breakers in the post season.
So nice to win these close games, after years and years of finding a way to lose them.
At the end of these games, when there's a seemingly a whistle on every possession, Coach should try to do a Devion on offense, Sim on defense approach. Devion guesses where his guy is going and is wrong more often than not. Sim, while still committing some dumb fouls, is really playing some shutdown, in your face defense.
