RIP to one of the greats! Pretty wild we played last night in Hinkle and Coach Dale passed around the same time.

Great, great actor. I know this comment isn't acting but he had this great smile that exuded warmth though he didn't possess leading man looks.

Unless this was a carbon monoxide accident, was likely a planned suicide to leave this earth together.

Many great movies but French Connection and Hoosiers stand out.

I don’t know. God forbid any of these guys who are banged up get some kind of worse injury and are out the rest of the season from a game that means basically nothing, that would be pretty crappy in my eyes.

lol, I’m not saying they should throw the game, I’m just saying guys like Richmond, Luis, Scott, etc…maybe shouldn’t play 40min. I don’t know why I have to spell that out.

Let me add, it’s kind of an indictment on the system itself if the committee or whoever it may be hangs us for losing a game that means nothing, especially against a team like Marquette. That just doesn’t make sense. There’s a reason NFL teams rest their starting QB or the NHL their starting goalie in the last regular season game when they’ve clinched. I mean, Christ, in the NBA starting players get rested for “maintenance” or whatever that means.
Unfortunately, this is not the NFL and we have to recognize that. We are playing for seeding in the NCAA tournament and every win counts. We can't change the system.

Not an expert, but I thought performance in the Conference tourneys does not enhance your chances of making the Big Dance, unless you win it outright and secure the automatic bid.
lol wow. I really don’t know anything about this stuff. I guess, we haven’t had to worry about it in 20 years, really, but in my eyes, they’re really focusing on the wrong stuff.

I mean, posters freak out when we leave our best players in the game when we’re up 20-something points. But since they apparently care about scoring margin, the days of bringing the walk-ons in after the last TV timeout are over which kinda sucks to me. God forbid, if we were a bubble team, we’d be here cursing if we beat DePaul by “only” 15 points instead of the 25-point lead we had earlier in the game.

The system stinks then. We all bemoan the DJ Kennedy injury in the BET and that was a game that mattered. It puts the players at risk and gives the team no reward for a great regular season.

Bottom line is that it isn't up to us what the team does against Marquette. I'm fine either way because Rick and the players know what is best for both them and the team (both long and short term) and they will make the decision as to how they handle that game. Whatever decision they make will be made based on what is best for everyone. I say we leave it at that.

Hopefully we blow SHU out of the building in the first half so we can rest the injured guys in the second half and then we have a week off before Marquette with another few days off before we hit the court in the BET.

Well said, I’ll get off my soapbox now.

I just want to make sure I got this right…we’ll still lose luster in the committee’s eyes if we lose to Marquette next week but we still win the Big East Tournament? It would unquestionably be our “best” loss regardless of the circumstances.

This is a serious question that I’m asking one of you rankings guys like @dk423

Fact 1: The committee ranked us as a 4 seed.
Fact 2: We are 4-0 since then.
Opinion 1: If the season ended right now we’re a 3 seed.
Opinion 2: Dropping the season finale at Marquette will not effect our seed line.

It was the new uniform/new hairdo game.

Was out on the town in a place oft frequented by 114 types, Huntington, and only saw the last 10 minutes.

I turn on the tele and see Vince is getting extended run in a nail biter. Where's Zuby I wonder? Groin injury, foul trouble, eloped? Foul trouble yes, but only 3 and it's the 4th quarter now. Turns out the HOF coach, that sees all the practices and individual skill sessions, in his infinite wisdom is putting his chips down not on foul troubled Zuby, or Pray, or Marillayo...but on board whipping boy Vince. Hmm? This ain't hockey. I haven't heard plus minus referenced this much since they kicked me off the Islanders fan board. 3 for 5; 7 points; 3 boards; 0 turnovers in 14 minutes. Vince wins this key road wins 6th man award hands down. He's not the backup center on a way sub .500 Norm team. He's the backup center on a 16 and 2 BE champion!

Shout out Vince - appreciate you. Respect yo!

Just watched the Rick and team presser. Hilarious. Rick, Zuby and RJ squeezed together on a Butler football sofa. Looked like 3 guys sitting around at a New Years Eve party. You don’t realize how big and strong Zuby and RJ look. Rick? Not so much…🥳

@Marq is a Q1 & tough game, so I don’t think we would lose a spot by losing in a close-ish game. But, on the other hand, winning that game is the type of one that can have you pass a good team since it could very well be our best win of the season if we do it.

The committee said last year they already rank teams before the conference tournaments and it seems like only minor adjustments are made. That’s why the win against Seton Hall and close loss to UConn still didn’t have us close to making it.

If I had to guess, we’re probably one of the last two three seeds today. It’s tough to project because while we were a four seed and have gone undefeated since then, we don’t know what the disparity was between us and the third four seed, and us and the first fifth seed. For all we know, we were miles apart from the other four seeds and neck-and-neck with Maryland, who’s a fifth seed. And, unlike the other teams in the conversation, they’ve all had ample opportunity to boost their resume. We have, for sure, but it’s hard to gauge how much in their eyes.

The thing that should make you feel better is that Rick said the guys only practiced once this week since he wanted them to rest. I doubt they’re going to be doing much before Seton Hall (for their standards), and probably doing something similarly before Marquette.

Call me crazy but I want every college game to matter.
I prefer this system of every regular season game mattering. Just look at the nba of how awful things become when they don’t.

But I do wish the conference tournaments were weighted more highly as well. Last year, while a lot of fun, felt like a waste of time. Either move it to middle of season or make it count more than regular season.

And they give AQ to the winners. So in theory, since they don’t care about anything else, all the best teams in Power conferences should tank to get another team in from their league. Genius system that NCAA has.

Well, thank you for your recognition of Vince! He is, so far, my favorite player off the bench, I think he has improved tremendously. He has a way to go, but he is good and fun to watch. I would have loved to see Lefty get more time too.
