Nothing comes easy for this team. It wins ugly. We defend and grind and stay in there. Tremendous character, toughness and resilience.

Also, our Brute Squad just basically eliminated U Conn from regular season title contention.

SJU is the new king of the Big East hill.

(Now go beat Nova on Wednesday).

That was such an unbelievable effort. I thought we'd lose before this game, and really thought this could go down as another epic STJ branded disappointment when the game started (if you can't tell, I'm a Mets fan).

The most amazing stat to me is that offensive boards ended up being 12 STJ-13 UConn. In the first half, they had nine and we had zero. We absolutely upped our effort in that second half.

Rick was smart in giving guys breathers in the first half. We needed every single minute from our big six in second half.

With all the NBA scouts in the house, this is the type of game that gets RJ Luis drafted this year. They went to see McNeeley (who's a legit lotto pick) and Ball, but may come away thinking about RJ's defense and rebounding. They'll see the mental mistakes as correctable. Unbelievable effort by him.

I also give a lot of credit to Sim tonight. He hit a big three late in the game. Played great defense, and did make strong drives to the lane.

Kadary, despite having a terrible first 30 minutes, earned his paycheck yet again. I'm going to miss watching him on my team.

I would have never believed we would win a game against a ranked opponent on the road if this was the case:
  • Lose rebounding battle 43-33
  • Shoot 4-21 from 3pt
  • 9-33 from the field from Sim, Smith and Kadary

LFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ability of this team to wear you down while playing balls to the wall while essentially only going 6 deep is truly amazing and a testament to their great conditioning and super strong will to succeed. I don't know how many other coaches in history would have been as successful as CRP with this group. To win without shooters in this day and age takes a special coach and special group of young men.

We were awful. We shot 4-21 from 3 and were out rebounded by 10.

Richmond had his worst game in weeks, decvon smith was awful etc etc etc.

We were terrible tonight. And won!!!!!
It's mind boggling. And there is no precedent for this type of team except maybe Houston in 2021 or so, but they weren't nearly as bad as us shooting the three

There's just one thing I really really ;regret.

Louie not being with us to witness this awesome season.

But, he's smiling down from heaven.

We miss you Louie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree. Always was hoping to get the this level with Louie around

As you said I’m sure he’s smiling down!

Key to the game was the TO differential offset the rebounding differential.

I did not have that on my bingo card, but the bottom line is we found a way to do what we do,. which is create enough more opportunities for our subpar offense to offset the other team's offense.

Ok so immediately after games, the days leading up to games and on Monday’s when polls come out, this has been the most enjoyable and successful team since the Mullin/Berry teams.
During the games… I don’t know what to say, I appreciate how hard we play and the defense, but we make crazy mistakes, can’t shoot, miss free throws and one of our best players might have ugliest shot in history. It is really hard to reconcile how successful we have been with how we play. Want to sit back and enjoy since I never thought we would be this successful ever again, but then the game starts and….
Larry guess you are not a fan of great defense and wouldn’t have liked the great Knick teams of the 90s. This is my 60th season of watching St. John’s basketball and this is the best defensive team and by far the toughest I’ve had the pleasure of watching.

NCJ:
His screen name is a player who Norm refused to play because while he could shoot, he was a terrible defender.

I ask you, what did you EXPECT????

Larry we love you anyway. 😇

They had more turnovers than field goals made. And they're the 12th best offense in the country.

CRAZY
