Providence (MSG), Sat., Feb. 1, 12 NOON, CBSSN

I thought the timeout English called after Joseph tied it helped us. I get he wanted to set up his defense. We had no timeouts, out of sorts and deflated. It gave time to get the crowd jacked again and Pitino to tell his team to give the ball to Kadary and clear out.
Kadary got so open for the shot because we ran a pick and roll with Zuby and KR’s man went with Zuby and the PC center got caught in no mans land not committing to the switch.

Rahim may have given the best 3 point shooting we see all season. What we don't know is how the defense is set, who did the coaches determine was the primary threat. If he was considered the 3rd option not the primary or secondary then it is understandable why he got more looks and congrats to him for hitting them, it may never happen again. The coaches at some point should have4 changed up the scheme.

I also think the refs did have a bit to do with it. You can take a look at KC games ans see at times things get a bit tilted in their favor to help them get through. Maybe they wanted to keep it a closer game for ratings or someone out there does not like us, but it seemed like we were getting tikitak fouls then getting clobbered and no call,

All in all we had spotty offense in the 2nd half and still won. I would like to see prey come in and spell scott as he seems to be a calming factor, plays good defense, and passes well.
Exactly! I'm sure the scouting reports did not have Raheem as a 3point threat based on his stats.

All-American Kadary Richmond dazzled on Saturday, hitting the game winner in front of 19,000 fans. I’m Joined by Kevin Connelly from StormThePaint as we recap the win, and get you ready for gauntlet St. John’s is about to face starting with Marquette on Tuesday

With the 3 point shot, leads can evaporate quickly. Number 11 Kansas was up 21 at one point, and lost to Baylor yesterday by 11. We all wish we had a team of 3 point shooters. As CRP said, he sacrificed shooting for athleticism. I look at our shooting as the cherry on top of a Sundae. It really is nice to have that cherry on top. but the vanilla custard covered in melted marshmallow and hot fudge is really good too.

Funny you would post this. My thought is that shooting for this team is like the seasoning/marinating of a fine steak. While a great steak would pass the taste test at a back yard barbecue, a diner or even a middle level restaurant, if the steak, no matter what the quality, is not prepared with the right seasoning, aging etc. it would never pass the taste test in an upscale steakhouse.

Hopefully our coach and staff are working on a marinate recipe to enhance our fine dining experience. 😂👍

The Longest Day- adventure of a soon to be 77year old SJ fan going to the Providence game.

The alarm clock goes off at 3:30 in Port St Lucie. I have breakfast, do the 3 s’s, and drive to the West Palm Beach airport for a 7am flight. Nobody comments on my SJ sweatshirt or Johnnies hat. After a 30 minute maintenance delay I’m on the way. We land at LaGuardia a few minutes late. I was impressed with the Delta terminal and LaGuardia in general. It’s looking like a real airport. I had to run the gauntlet of gypsy cab hawkers to get to the taxi stand and tell the cabby to take me to the Woodside train station (a real dump).

There’s a lot of SJ fans waiting for the train and many more on the train. I get to Penn around 11 and head inside. I got my two sons passes to the pre game reception at Stout’s but they said it was so crowded they couldn’t get to the bar. I bought a large Goose Bay IPA and Cracker Jacks for an outrageous amount of money and got to my seat in section 111. My sons come in wearing SJ gear. #2 son went on EBAY and brought a Redmen T-shirt and hat. Great game and unlike prior years I never thought we would lose, although I was anxious at the end.

After the game we go to Tir Na Nog and had one round. It was so crowded we had to leave and hung out at Rosa’s eating pizzas. We eventually get on the 4:45 Babylon train with other SJ fans, everyone still talking about the game. I get off at Jamaica to take the AirTrain. Packed train but I’m the only one in red. Nobody cares. Same goes for the Jet Blue terminal. I’m hoping for someone to ask about the SJ gear so I can talk about the game, but no such luck. We take off on time at 8pm and have an uneventful flight back to West Palm. I get my car and arrive home around midnight. The wife’s half asleep but the dog is glad to see me.

I texted my sons the next day and say we need to do this again next year!

Nice. PBI is a nice airport, coming and going.

This is a great post what a day and I’m so happy that St. John’s delivered a win. It would’ve been awful if we had lost that game after all you went through.

We started at Stout at 9am...on paper opens at 9:30, but the doors were open and they started serving us...we had (12) passes for 1870 Club, but like you said, too crowded, we stayed at the bar...we were also Section 111, Row 15...we had reservations for Feilles afterwards, which was perfect...the line for Stout was long...
We had a great day...Marty Whelan and his staff at Stout and Feille's took great care of us...totally recommend!

Kansas was up 21, and after Baylor caught up and tied, Kansas then went up by 10 and still lost!
