Louisville fans used to celebrate DePaul Day: Rick Pitino's Day Off.

I don't think it's much of a thing for them these days, as Rick is long-gone and Louisville is currently on a two-game losing streak versus the Blue Demons (and the rest of the world). But, for STJ's, I think the gentle Rick euphemism still applies where DePaul is concerned. I wouldn't be too worried about this one.

In some ways it does. It is generally acknowledged that a coach is way behind in the process for HS recruits when hired in March. Its not that different for potential transfer portal recruits.
Excellent point. There are potential transfers that are known through back channels going back to the beginning of their last season all the way till their season has ended

Fans are fans and seem to have an uncanny ability to predict, that’s why so many bookies go broke. I just hope the team is taking each game as seriously as they should. The Johnnie’s have no laurels to rest on nor should they be going in to ANY game thinking they just need to show up. Stranger things have happened.

So much analysis, simply convincingly beat a reeling DePaul, feel better and then knock off M’Q on road to regain confidence and position yourself for ether public perception and Dance consideration.

Obviously the second part is much more difficult, but when in a rut, I can’t think of a better way of getting out of it than by beating a top BE team on road. I am sure Pitino has met similar challenges, so put soap box down, prepare your team and steal one. Yes, I am skipping over DePaul for good reason, they are horrendous.

In terms of Marquette, possible….yes….. probable….. even the most die hard positive fan has doubts. We are due for a nice surprise. Have not had one (other then some recruits), since Pitino announced he was taking the job. 🤪

Hope you’re right as the talent pool left after this season, even if no one leaves, is not worthy of a place in the upper half of the conference. Also, there is allot of chatter on the board of many names being thrown around as portal target guarantees, fact or wishful thinking?

Tournament bid is in players hands right now. To me, it is simple, recommit to playing great defense and offensive movement before anything else! Become more purposeful and less mistake prone! Bang the boards!Find open cutter to the basket! Do NOT let player you guard get past you! Be first to loose balls! Dingle and Luis not getting picked in Draft so hone in on the goal AND path to that goal!

But in the past, Rick’s second season was always based on developing his current talent and continuity. In the world of NIL and expressed by Rick as a “big concern” in his recent presser, there is no continuity in college hoops anymore and with Rick’s demanding defensive system, expecting new players year in and year out to pick things up quickly is a stretch.

Knock Depaul around tonight, hopefully a number of guys have good games to get to feeling better about themselves; then win at least 5 more and season will have met Pitino's measure of first year success (making the dance).
