@Xavier, Wed., Jan. 31, 6:30p, FS-1

Everybody aside from Jenkins and Soriano played poorly the whole night, but could have erased it all coming out of the U4 in a tie game but just didn't make the winning plays again.

@UConn
@Creighton
vMarquette
@Xavier

Team just doesn't have what it takes to win those types of games

Does not have the jump shooters to make that happen

Very much like the Seton Hall game but closer. Out rebounded. Out hustled. Out shot. Out smarted. Beaten in almost every category. Yet we had the game tied inside four minutes. Jenkins and Soriano with strong games. Everyone else looked like they were sleeping.

Need to move on but losses to Michigan, Boston College, Seton Hall and today Xavier were really frustrating. The moral victory losses to UCONN, Creighton and Marquette didn’t bother me as much as those games. Maybe somehow we will show up Saturday but the talent difference just seems too great.

Now we have to hear about everything wrong with daniss jenkins when literally no one else on the team can take and make a 3 pointer. He was the only one to make one tonight and he’s not even a good shooter. You’re not gonna win consistently when no one can shoot
Not really, he played great, but the last shot over feeding Joel deserves some thought. No way, however Jenkins lost this one & he clearly played best game of season

espken, we always say that this team shows heart after they come back from being down big. The problem is that it happens all the time. The problem is that we’re down so much in the first place before we actually start to give maximum effort. We can’t keep digging ourselves out of a hole.
Trust me, I feel the same frustrations. For years we’ve been so close yet so far. I just believe Pitino can get this ship right unlike previous regimes. Still have the whole month of February to prove it.

Olivari made some tough shots after we tied it. They hit their free throws, we didn’t. Showed a lot of heart after being down 11. This one hurts, but not quitting on this team. They still have alot of fight in them.
Disagree, a team with fight plays 40 minutes, not 10 or 20 or even 30. I thought this was a HUGE game to show fight and heart from the opening tap, but they didn’t, they played the same stupid, half hearted ball until they got down double digits. They learned nothing from the Nova stomping.

The game was particularly frustrating for a couple reasons. First, our goal is solo 5th in the BE. This gets us behind the eight ball.

Second, we came out dead on our feet but had all the situational advantages to come back and win despite playing awful. Heck after the T on X’s center the refs were calling any contact on the big guys, all we needed to do was give to Joel and let him eat. Instead, we kept RJ in the game who for some reason would rather have a root canal then pass it into the post.

Third Joel and Daniss shot over 60% from the field. Everyone else 25%. That’s a lot to replace next year. I like Zuby but Dunlap and Simeon seem like they will need another year of seasoning before they can be impact players.

Oi, this game gets you right in the gut sometimes.

Just getting tiring how he’s the first one to get blamed after losses when he’s one of the few guys who actually shows up. Jenkins was literally out there begging his teammates to show some fight. He battled his ass off and basically willed us into the game

We are good but not that good.
What else could RP have created in year one, recruiting as he did in the 11th hour.
What more could he have done inheriting a moribund program as he did.
We’re headed in the right direction bumps in the road and all.
These frustrating losses - lousy for sure - but to be expected.
We are good but not that good.
☹️☹️☹️
Next I’ll get me a bourbon and ginger ale then some sleep.

I’ll take losing on road to Xavier and beating UConn at the garden any day!!!
Eric, I would be absolutely ecstatic if they beat UConn but I just don’t see it. This team takes one or two steps forward and then one or two steps back. Bet the house on UConn you’ll have two houses!

Ok. I calmed down. If Providence loses we will be in a four way tie for fifth. We are 3-1 against those teams. We still control our destiny. It could be worse. See you at the UCONN game. Need to get off the board until then.

In a perfect world yes. But when you are down 11 after 30+ minutes on the road and you tie it after missing tons of FTs. That shows me a team that doesn’t give up. Xavier is no slouch despite their record.

I was just just hoping that after playing great def vs nova, that it would continue,
I mean the they looked like they were enjoying playing lockdown def vs nova so I'd think that they couldn't wait to play again.

Then 88 points happened today, makes me sick to my stomach.

Loss hurts now, but a Providence win in this game would ruin my night. Cause you just know UConn’s beating our ass if they lose tonight
