Random but anyone remember the game where we went into X and went up like 15-0 and stunned the crowd.
Of course, lost the game anyway lol

Stop me if I've said this before, but until further notice - they are who we thought they were. Solidly in the 4-6 range in the league. They have come close to being a bit more, but aren't there yet. However they are growing as the season goes on, so the book is not fully written yet.
Just to play devils advocate, if an extra shot at the buzzer had fallen against Creighton and Marquette, would that have really changed your calculus of who the team really is?
Good point, I forgot we didn’t have RJ that first game.We are becoming capable of beating anyone anywhere. We have legit pieces. Our defense is doing what it can to make up for our lulls on offense. Limit those and we are tough versus anyone. Xavier will be tough but we should beat them. We didn’t have RJ that first game too.
Anyone wondering what brand Tequila RP was drinking ? He could probably make a fortune doing a Commercial for them .,I read a few posts lamenting the fact that we have a week off now and that my stall the momentum of last night's win, but I feel as if this break couldn't come at a better time. We've got a few guys still fighting through injuries (Ledlum/ankle, Dingle/Covid, Dunlap/ankle, Luis/shin splints) and now we get a whole week to get everyone 100%. Plus I have complete faith in Pitino to get everyone up after a week off and fired up for the second half of our conference schedule.

When the 2nd team came in during the first half and had their way defensively vs. Villanova, I got crazy hyped watching that. That's what Pitino's teams do.We are becoming capable of beating anyone anywhere. We have legit pieces. Our defense is doing what it can to make up for our lulls on offense. Limit those and we are tough versus anyone. Xavier will be tough but we should beat them. We didn’t have RJ that first game too.
This has been a theme or feeling I've had and shared since basically the end of November. I haven't felt that with an SJU team in forever. We're seeing guys get better before our eyes. You're seeing max effort and actual teaching, development. I think for the first time the patience adage, that Pitino and staff have preached, is believable because I'm seeing it. And it's not from behind red colored glasses. We are becoming capable of beating anyone anywhere. We have legit pieces. Our defense is doing what it can to make up for our lulls on offense. Yes, we win those games especially on the road in Omaha, I'm feeling much better about who this team really is. Upper echelon of the conference and nationally ranked. Good teams win those close games. We're getting there but are not there yet. Those are my two cents. ~lawschoolgrad not lawmanfanJust to play devils advocate, if an extra shot at the buzzer had fallen against Creighton and Marquette, would that have really changed your calculus of who the team really is?
I fear a fly in the ointment. We may be most vulnerable to big wing forwards who can get in to the lane and force Soriano fouls. With the exception of Traore our frontcourt players lack either the size or quickness to stop Scheierman, Ighodaro, Richmond et al that are on several Big East teams. My sense is that Ejiofor who looks like a good 4/5 could be a big help here but we can't expend Soriano's backup on defensive needs at the 4 position. Last player to go was Mo Keita and wish he was still here, releasing Ejiofor for more work at the 4.This has been a theme or feeling I've had and shared since basically the end of November. I'm buying that brand, but have no idea what you're talking about?Anyone wondering what brand Tequila RP was drinking ? He could probably make a fortune doing a Commercial for them .,
I'd like to agree 100% SJUDave, but where were guys getting better, where was max effort against my now-home state BE team Seton Hall (that hurt). This has been a theme or feeling I've had and shared since basically the end of November.
