Villanova (MSG), Wed., Jan. 24, 8:30p, FS-1

I'm watching local news and they are doing a piece on IMG Academy, which is right near me in Florida. They have a kid there in the high school and is 7'7" tall!!! Joel's replacement!!! 😜 (Unfortunately he's going to UF) His name is Oliver Rioux and he's from Canada. I think that he's only 15 or 16 years old and still growing!

The one thing Nova still does extremely well is hit their foul shots - 82% as a team and only rotation player who shoots less than 80% is Burton at 73%. Critical to keep them off the line. They only shoot the three at 33+% just like us.
Thus , Statistics and Confucius say ā€œ Don’t foul Nova 3 point shooters.ā€ Let them shoot !

The biggest key for St. John's in this game is Chris Ledlum being available unlike the first matchup. I thought he played a fantastic game against Marquette and between him, Joel and Zuby they should be able to give Eric Dixon fits. Clearly what they did in the first match up worked, holding Dixon to 4-18 from the floor sooooo lets hope to do that again. Villanova will have Justin Moore back
Not to nitpick, but the person most responsible for holding Dixon to 4-18 in the first game was Dixon. He has wide open on the perimeter all night and at least 3 of his three's were halfway down and rimmed out (He went 2-10 from three). He can shoot it from out there, so it will be interesting to see how coach deals with that other than "put Joel out in space where he's a disaster defensively". Might see a lot of Zuby tomorrow.

Got it. No credit to our defense.

Yesterday, BPI had us at 57.2% to win. Now, it's 64.5%.

Did the news about Dingle that changed that? I can't imagine that would boost the odds that much, but what do I know?

Maybe something up on the Nova side?
