St. John’s isn’t a bandwagon. It’s a birthright.
It’s Sunday mass and Saturday hoops. It’s the Q train to the Garden. It’s your grandfather’s stories about the NIT when it still meant something, and your own memories of rushing the court or cursing at the TV.
It’s New York City basketball—tough, proud, and never backing down from anyone. It’s the Big East the way it was meant to be played. It’s knowing that no matter how the season goes, you’ll be back next year, same as always.
Being a Johnnies fan isn’t about championships. It’s about showing up. It’s about belonging to something bigger than a record, something that connects generations of New Yorkers who bleed red.

Paul Massell (1968–2024), Founder
Red.Fans—originally redmen.com—was founded by Paul Massell in 1998.
For over 25 years, Paul carefully stewarded this site into a devoted community of St. John’s basketball fans. During March Madness, it generates over a million page views per month.
The site is now maintained by Paul’s sons.
Donations are greatly appreciated and go directly toward maintaining the site and its server costs. Any amount exceeding those fixed costs goes to Paul’s widow, Kay.
