Zags article on SJU turnaround

Zags points out that SJU technically doesn't have any more scholarships for 2017. What he doesn't point out is that technically they only have one for the class of 2018 as well with 11 of the players on the current roster with 2 or more years of eligibility left after the coming season and Boubacar Diakite already committed. It'll take lots of nudging out the door to have a huge class, unless he means a huge 2 man class.

If we only take Brown in this year and he replaces Williams, then we have at least two for 2018 (Ahmed and Amar)

Correct but as Austour pointed out we already have Boubacar so there is only one ship left in the two man class. Personally I believe 1 of Lovett, Simon, Ponds, Mussini or Ellison will not be here after 2018 which will open up the 3rd ship. Next season there will be 5 guards with Simon being in the top 3 , someone will not be pleased. Hate speculating on who will leave but there will not be enough pt in the backcourt to keep everyone happy

It looks like 2018 should be a very good year on the court with 10 juniors and seniors. But for recruiting, scholarship distribution is an issue as always. Unless we can free up scholarship room in 2018, then 2019 and 2020 will be big recruiting years (10 combined openings). My guess is that we lose 2 players prior to 2018, creating a total of 3 openings. We clearly need to focus on big men for the 2018 class, because by 2019 we will be pretty limited up front.
