Zach on Greg Williams & CMA

He’s right that we have to give Anderson some time getting the best recruits in here. It isn’t easy after all the turmoil and we’ve had a ton of bad press prior to cma coming in. Doesn’t excuse him from landing some top notch recruits but patience is prudent even if near impossible for the fans. A sprinkle of 4-star talent wouldn’t hurt.

Greg, just like Posh, was a borderline 3 star/4star and will be just like Posh, a BE top 15 player in his junior/senior years. I have no doubt Posh/Champ/Greg will wind up as excellent BE players; the key to how well we can do next year is how high Moore & Cole's ceilings are.

Greg has really impressed me this year. As everyone has pointed out if he can be more aggressive him and Julian can be very solid 1st and 2nd options.

I thought him and Marcellus had a bit too much hype after a limited 5 game stretch and cautioned we need to see it hold up long term. Both have built off their shooting performances that finished last year. Greg with more minutes and chances and Marcellus with less time which is good for both IMO.

Not being critical of CMA but to Zach's general point of only losing one game we should have won is that we have 4 losses and haven't won a game we weren't supposed to win. Also just because you are the "underdog' on paper or point spread you can't just lose them all for the whole season. Again this is directed to Zach's point and not meant to reflect on our season.

Greg looks increasingly comfortable out there. He's fundamentally sound, knows where to be, and is getting better at knowing when it's his time to shoot or attack the basket.

He's playing a lot of minutes because I think he's a security blanket for Anderson. Greg plays under control and doesn't allow emotions to dictate his decision-making. Let's enjoy the next year and a half with him.

Hi Zach :) I assume he reads the board after that article.

I'm rooting for Greg. We really do need him to step up. On top of it, his dad seems to be really supportive of the team on twitter.

Great article and I 100 percent agree with Zach. Greg really is a catalyst for this team. I really think he will continue to improve this year and hopefully have a monster senior year next year. Great duo next year of Greg as a senior and Julian as a junior

I never boarded the Trimble train, but if I were a betting man, I'd lay a few bucks that GW may just be ready to bust out. LJ's exit may just create the kind of opportunity he needed.

Yes, we could really use LJ this year, but if GW emerges, this was the sort of thing that we hoped for as a direct result of LJ departing.

I’d add that GWill really does have a beautiful stroke from the outside with a quick release. He’s also got the athleticism to match. I’d if he adds intensity to his skill set he can be an upper tier Big East player. We are seeing what he can do and I hope he continues. He, Champs and Moore can be formidable with Cole as an addition scorer from the outside amongst some of our other guys.

It’s a good thing that you avoided that train. For Akron, Trimble is averaging 5 points per game on 21% shooting. Combined with his 36% and 33% shooting in 2 years here...and you have a shooter that can’t shoot. GW is light years better as a player.

Biggest intangible is Greg's confidence/aggressiveness- he has all the tools and looks so fluid out there- for us to be competitive each night and win a couple BE games, GW must be aggressive on the offensive end.

what is impressive about Greg, and bodes well for his continued development, is that I believe his release was not quick up until mid to late last year. So, he has worked at it and the improvement shows

Trimble went for 22 points on 6-6 shooting from deep tonight.

I wasn't trying to malign BT.  In fact GSJ once gushed about what a freakishly good athlete he is.   I just never saw any flashes of that ability.     Great for him, happy he put together a strong outing.

Caution on GW.  No one is ever as good as their career best game.  I think though that the signs are all there that he is a much improved player.

As much as it pains some fans here , Greg was a Mullin / Matt recruit .  He was a little raw his first year and getting minutes with Ponds , Clark , Simon , Herron, Figgy was tough. He showed more last year and even more this season . He's developed a lot of Game in all areas . He can get to the rim and shoots well , usually . Him being more assertive shows . He's a valuable player to our team .
