Zach B Article on Dom

Braziller: "Pointer even suggested to Lavin he redshirt, thinking a year off would serve him well, a chance to find his game and serve as a leader for a new group of teammates."

Rubin: "Yet all this success might be rooted in the very idea Pointer wouldn’t be there. After the poor junior campaign, Lavin discussed what it would take to get Pointer to reach his potential and slipped in the idea of redshirting this season. It was the only time the idea came up between them because Pointer responded by pouring himself into offseason training."

Either Pointer lied (and in doing insulted himself) or Lavin lied so as to take credit for the improvement in Pointer's game. Which seems more plausible.

Fun, sweetie, there are a number of possible reasons for the discrepancy that are a lot more likely than that either man lied. Either you know that but chose to ignore it, or you really don't know. Hard to decide which would be sadder.

Run with it if it makes you happy.

“It was a challenge because in reality I knew Dom would not end up redshirting,” Lavin said. “But I wanted to send a message that if you’re not calibrated the right way and beginning to perform closer to your potential then a redshirt year is something we could look at. He went to work and has come back in the best condition of his career and has added various tools and skills that have elevated his play.”

“I was at a low point — a very low point,” he said. “I needed to step away.” How low? Pointer even suggested to Lavin he redshirt, thinking a year off would serve him well, a chance to find his game and serve as a leader for a new group of teammates.

Look at all the cognitive dissonance: love and tears, truth and lies, stupidity and condescension. Take care your tiny little head doesn't explode.
