You play Mets GM

What if you were Sandy Alderson, what would you do?

Let's get your fixes, and put aside the fact the Mets are screwed because of disgraceful (and I am being very kind) ownership.

I would put a wrcking ball to it and trade Wright and Dickey. Wright will be 30 and his next 3 prime years will be wasted on a 75-win team.

I would trade Dickey, since you are trading high. The Mets need bats and in the system, and they would get a good haul for those two.

Another thing I would explore, is what I could get back for Jon Niese. Yes I know he is a 25-year old lefty, and a good #3 starter.

Again, the Mets system is stocked with pitching, but only 2 or 3 upside bats.

Drastic times call for drastic measures, and this is where I start.

In reality however, the Wilpons wil re-sign both Wright and Dickey and add nothing else and have another season like this one. Rinse and repeat.

Get ready for an outfield of Hairston/Neiwehaus/Duda next year with Baxter subbing around. The bullpen will come from within. Wouldn't be surprised to see Shoppach/Thole combo behind the plate. Alderson/Collins will give us the 'potential' speech with Ike healthy for an entire year (which no one can guarantee) and Duda coming into his own. There could be a quick trigger to bring up Wheeler/Flores to keep fans interested while keeping the payroll down. Just don't see change until Bay/Santana are off the books. I just don't think you would get much in return for Dickey given what you stated . Probably best to keep him to try and stay competitive. If they trade Wright, which I wouldn't be against, my guess the overall fan base would through a fit so i don't think they would go down that road.

They pick 11 in 2013 draft and I know you are suppose to take the best talent given the failure rate of most prospects but i hope they take the best POWER talent available from college like Kris Bryant or Colin Morgan if they are available .

FWIW, Alderson was just on with MF. He said there will me major changes in the outfield. Believe it when I see it.

Trade the Wipons.

They are phonies, still claiming there lack of funds has nothing to do with Madoff. It looks like the same situation we had with the contracts of Perez and Castillo; this time it's Santana and Bay. Once again, it's wait until next year.
Alderson has to do something with the catching and outfield. On an interview on SNY he already claimed it would be too expensive to sign any free agents. So, it looks like we have to trade; some suggestions have been to get rid of Davis, putting Duda at first. Let's face it, Davis, Wright, Dickey, Harvey and Wheeler are the only tradeable personnel. Oh do I miss the good old days of Hodges, Robinson, Reese, Snider, Campanella and Furillo. Dream on.

How 'bout Angel Pagan? He had a good year for the Giants. Maybe they'd take Dickey for him. Ridiculous isn't it?

Couldn't believe Mets traded Pagan for Torres. All you had to do is watch the San Fran Giants on Showtimes series to see how horrible Torres was-he hit like .210 last year.

Wright is a free agent.. This isn't the NBA where you sign and trade so he wouldn't be traded this winter. Either we bring him back for probably 20 mill a year or he goes elsewhere. Dickey is tradeable but we wouldn't get a top prospect for him unless its at the trade deadline next summer. The regulars that need to be replaced are Thole and the entire outfield. The pitching can hold its own with the young arms that we have along with Santana dickey and Pelfrey. If we get Justin upton or mike Napoli this winter we will be a much improved squad. Unfortunately I think the Wilpons have been set back financially for at least a few more years. They are a disgrace.

He has a $16 million option, so you can pick that up AND trade him.

I don't think it would sit well with future targets if we took our only superstar and maybe best franchise player ever and picked up his option to trade him for assets. We would be a laughing stock to other free agents when proposing a team option. Maybe picking up the option and trading him next July would be feasible but at this point I think it's inevitable he signs long term

Well then how about Beltran? He's about due for another long term injury after all that production. Perfect fit. He could rehab all next season with J. Bay. And what's Omar M. doing. Couldn't Aldorson use a translator? That's assuming he really knows Spanish though.
