Yankees vs. Blue Jays (Jul 2, 2025) Box Score - ESPN
Box score for the New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays MLB game from July 2, 2025 on ESPN. Includes all pitching and batting stats.
Jays are red hot night, and we are ice cold. This was not a good time to be playing them, especially up there (which we have to do again in a couple of weeks, due to a scheduling quirk).Toronto is now tied for 1st place. The AL East is a very weak division and I do not see the Yanks winning.
They have some athletes that can put some numbers, like Judge. Goldschmidt --Bat has cooled, but he can play 1st base.
But in general...
But there are others on the team that I can't stand watching play. Grisham - Can't stand his casual outfield play, although he is talented. He's just too casual.
The Martian is now casually one-handing his catches--his not talented enough to do that.
Volpe--What the hell is going on with him. Dumb baseball in the field, on the bases,
and at the plate. He thinks he's a power hitter. A perfect reflection of his manager.
Jazz--Too much styling. Wish he took the game more seriously. Move him to 2nd.
DJ--Past his prime, but should move to 3rd until we have a 3rd basemen.
Catchers--Wells (a disappointment this season), Escarra (a serviceable back-up), Rice (Still learning, better at 1st).
Pitching--STARTERS -Fried (easily our Ace), Rodon (better this season as long as he stays sane), Schmidt (serviceable), Warren (still learning), Stroman (has shown little). Need Gil to return and give us some innings in August and September.
RELIVERS--Weaver (he'll be fine), Williams (needs more innings), Cruz (better than expected), Loaisiga (needs more innings), Hill, Leiter, Hamilton. The weakest part of the pitching staff is the use by the manager. He removes starters too soon and has a knack for putting in the cold reliever.
Manager--I've said it before, I do not lot like the way the most players play the game which is on the manager. Bad base running, fielding, lack of smart baseball. What did he do in spring training. The weak points are a recurring theme from year-to-year.
My prediction was correct. Now July 3rd and the Yanks are out of 1st place. There are no consequences for poor judgement or poor performance by the owners. I expect the Yanks will be out of 1st place by July 4th. But guys will continue to have good swings.
Today's Lineup:Been saying Martian should be leading off. Kid will be a multi-year all-star.
I wish Chisholm and LeMahieu would swap positions. Chisholm is a very good second baseman, but makes lots of wild throws at 3rd.Today's Lineup:
Dominguez LF
Judge RF
Bellinger CF
Stanton DH
Chisholm, Jr. 3B
Goldschmidt 1B
Escarra C
Volpe SS
LeMahieu 2B
