Yakwe Article

“I like it, it’s very calm,” Yakwe said. “It’s not like New York. Outside of campus, there is nothing to do."

I'm torn here: I want him to do well, but if he does too well, that indicates that our staff did something very wrong along the way.

Great kid, wish him well. I think he is one of those kids who will benefit from a change of scenery and have a solid senior year.

Obviously he hasn’t gone cow tipping yet.

If this kid ever develops a mid range jump shot, look out!!
After his promising freshman year, I hoped and prayed that would happen
But he seemed to regress during his time as a Johnnie
While I hate Yukon, I hope that it works out well for him there

Even though he’s at UCONN , can’t blame him for leaving. Great kid and also wish him success.

At UConn, the cow may have more to worry about than merely being tipped.

Should use his quote as a recruiting tool. “Outside of campus, there is nothing to do.”

“I feel like it’s more intense here,” Yakwe said. “Coach Hurley is going all the time. He doesn’t even stop. Drill after drill, the pace is great. When you practice that way, the game will be easier.”

Should be used as a recruiting tool. Visit Jamaica mon. Relax and don't worry. Be happy!

Did you ever think that some people may enjoy the simple, quiet lifestyle? Yes, NYC is the most exciting city in the US, but that doesn't mean that that is everyone's cup of tea.
concerning, I have heard other disturbing comments about our practice regime, intensity, etc...
I can think of someone who could add to the intensity level of our practices.

Kid has a lot to say for someone who accomplished pretty much next to nothing the past 2 seasons. I suspect it will be more of the same for him there once games begin.

I’m not buying it about our practices. We were in most games, down to the buzzer, undermanned and sucking wind as we were.
‘Something’ was ‘taught’ to our guys that they took as gospel and will serve them well in the future: never give up and fight.

Fran Fraschilla did some of the games in the Disney World tournament this past year. He said that he observed one of our practices, and actually felt that we were TOO intense, if that is possible. He said that we were very physical, running up and down all the time, diving for loose balls, etc.

He was questioned by the other broadcaster on the too intense comment, and said he felt that style of practice was good for defense, but not really for offense. Offense is about rhythm, timing, and togetherness, and Fran felt that you start slow with that, and that you build up speed over time.

So, I agree with Chicago Days on this one.
