Wusu’s emergence setting up hard decisions for St. John’s

From above article an additional comment I agree with;

“ It’s obviously a tiny sample size, taken from parts of one game, but I think St. John’s would be smart to split up Alexander and Dunn when Dunn returns from a concussion. They are too similar, two drive-first lead guards who aren’t dangerous from beyond the arc. I felt St. John’s had much better spacing on Thursday with Dunn out. Anderson likes their ability to create havoc in his pressure defense, and playing Dunn with Nick Rutherford did work at times last year, but on the offensive end I think it makes this team easier to defend.”

With Posh/Dunn/JWill/Wusu, CMA has a some good mix and match options. McGriff can fill in as needed. With there being a combined 80 minutes per game in the backcourt, I see the approx avg breakdown in MPG as follows:
Posh: 25
Dunn: 20
GWill: 20
Wusu: 15

Of course there will be injuries, foul trouble, CMA playing 3 guards at times, etc. So I think McGriff could see 5 MPG +/- depending on what's going on.

My brother and a childhood friend simply called him, "Sup."

Also like Zach's comments on Williams bottling up those first few minutes of the 2nd half. It's true that he missed some shots and turned the ball over, but I'll take that as he warms-up to being more aggressive.

I pull hard for Williams mostly because of his character. Last year, my 8 year old said hello to him during a pre-game at Carnesseca. Greg was so kind and talked to him well beyond any common courtesy. Just a really good and grounded kid.

Williams has the tools. Great kid, worker, great athlete, nice stroke, brings D. Needing to be more aggressive to become a consistent offensive option is the key. What I thought watching him versus St. Peters and yesterday. It is set up for him to have a nice upswing on the offense side. Now he just needs to take advantage of it.

Btw, re: Wusu and physicality, the "leader" on the other site characterized him as someone who is "not in good shape". Maybe that was the result of him being upset from Nebraska's loss to Nevada yesterday, but I certainly wouldn't say that Wusu looks like a freshman who doesn't have the physicality or conditioning to keep up.

Bryan Trimble was out of shape (no longer BTW- slimmed down a ton at Akron). Wusu off-season. Not like that...he is just a ball of muscle and will continue to get conditioned for basketball as season progresses and full offseason.

Is he kidding...kid is in shape...he has looked very good on his drives in the half court and on breaks...and is committed to defense...kid is going to get PT

Sadly, I’m not kidding. Said the same about Posh and virtually everyone else save Williams and Earlington.

Funny Trimble who I liked but could have used better conditions for sure was never brought up by him as out of shape. Coincidence?

I think not.

He's a "hack" who never had the ability to identify talent, and has gone the route of "shock jock" in an attempt to generate conversation and traffic to a declining site.

Perfect comparison. I kept thinking of football players but I forgot all about Rawle

In HS wusu handked the ball a lot. Posh is obviously willing to give the ball up and Wusu would often times initiate the offense and handle in pick and roll situations. As he gets more acclimated and builds CMAs trust he who’ll be another ball handler/creator option. Obviously that’s not his primary skill but the more guys you have out there as triple threats the better. I’ve been a little worried about his lack of length at the 3 when it comes to defending perimeter shooters but his strength certainly helps negate that inside.

Wusu's play is zero surprise to staff. He had been killing it in practice, and quietly they are saying he will be a stud by sophomore season - a bonafide star on this team. I mentioned this previously about 2 weeks ago.

This staff gets high grades for unearthing under-the-radar talent, IMO.

Oh man that’s a blast from the past. I got Super John Williamson’s autograph when I was a kid. He was the guest player at my Parrish basketball award dinner. Unfortunately he died very young. I think he was only 45 years old.
