This defense being played is atrocious....giving up layup after layup with no one covering their man. As a former high school coach for 20 years, I am embarrassed to watch this team play. Lavin must be blind if he thinks this is good defense. When a team has problems shooting, like sju does, they must play good defense, but this team has no concept of what defense truly is. Pathetic, atrocious, inept...are all words to describe their defense and the coach does not seem to know how to correct it. They do not have a clue how to defend an out of bounds play under the basket.....that is horrible coaching.

Not only that but the asst coach brought in to help with x and o doesnt know either. How much is he being paid?
 
Ridiculous thread. Did you watch the 6 game winning streak. Defense was there. Tonight the defense broke down late in the shot clock
Xavier had a good game plan and Criston and Davis are good off the dribble and dishing to cutting base line options
team looked uneven. Possible cumulative effect of murder in Phila.
 
#67 in the country in defensive scoring defense is not terrible by any stretch. Last night the middle was an issue for sure. For the season not so much.

Forty years of basketball, minus the winning streak the team just had. Which during that time the team played some of its best defense since the Hardy team. Remember Sampson shutting McDermott for over 8 minutes?

Look you have every right to be upset at the effort last night. But don't come here today and start some thread on poor defense. It appears as if you had this thread ready to go for a while, but were just waiting for a loss like this one to post it.
 
last night wasn't about the defense. Yes our low post d sucked but that's not why we lost. It was all about tempo. We never sped them up and on the flip side their transition D was absolutely impeccable. Barely had any easy buckets against them.
