Winning the NIT...

doesn`t mean a thing, eccept that we`d be the 69th best team.

Gotta make the NCAA even if it`s one and done.
That would give them ncaa experience for next year.

We gotta lose the mentality that it`s ok if we land in the NIT because almost everyone will be back.

In the 80s it was never ok, and it shouldn`t be ok now.

MSG is our home, it`s time to let everyone know, what time it is.
It`s our time to shine. Beat PC.
Nova next? Well let them know that they won`t slap us around like their step child anymore, time to push back.

IT`S OUR TIME.

The one guy we need more out of is Obekpa. I know he improved alot, but now we`ll even more out of him.
Want to see him BEAST OUT THERE.

yeah I haven't noticed too many posts saying it's ok to make the NIT

Brook, actually I did see a few posts where they said.
oh if we get into the NIT then fine, every will be back next year.

I don`t want to hear about next year, why not this year?

Erick, I thought we did that last year by making the NIT.Not only did we make it but we also beat St. Joe`s.
Isn`t the NCAA a step up this year?

I think it's interesting that some of the teams that we were very comparable to last season, and also had the majority of their roster returning - seemingly took much bigger steps forward than we did.
Villanova, Virginia, St Joes. A year ago we were very similar and yet now the first two especially have broken away from the pack. Why is that? None of those teams added a player of Jordan's caliber, and they even lost some starters (ex: Yarou).

We clearly had some "stuff" going on early in the season, with players being benched and suspended, walk-ons starting, and red shirts activated and starting. They get credit for righting the ship and being an NCAA caliber team over the past 13 games, but also when they could have cemented a bid, they stumbled vs. Nova and Xavier. Now they get still one more shot to secure a bid, likely by winning 2 BET games. If they win 2, they deserve a bid. If not, they don't. Disappointing, no doubt, but it's just the way it is.

Agree, there is nothing special about going to the NIT. It's just a way to extend the season. Granted many teams in the NIT will be better than some of the automatic NCAA bid teams from weaker leagues, but who cares? The NIT is a loser's tournament, especially with such a large NCAA field.

Hope he works on his foul shooting for next yr Would make him so much better

Was watching Hoosiers last night and couldn't help to not think about our "stuff" from this season during the scene when Gene Hackmann plays 4 on the court because he refuses to let the player who disobeyed his instructions back in the game.
 
The NIT was good for us last year. We were a "young team." This year the NIT would be a disappointment because it makes a statement about not taking the next step towards the League Championship and NCAA bid.

I think many would agree the year as a total body of work was mediocre at best. Anything less than making the dance is a less than satisfactory grade. Kind of like a C IN THE CLASSROOM. Sure, we're trending well now but, its' a total season, not a half season.

We can still get there with a big run in the tourney so, it's up to the team to step up and win this week.
