Why Not NCAA Title?

I read recently how many of the new members of the basketball team were talking about winning the National Championship and how members of the staff were looking to "cool their dreams". I for one think it was great that the new recruits are thinking in these terms AND THEY DEFINITELY SHOULD. They are very talented and and if they can get two of the recruits who failed to qualify for this semester onto the team by January there is no reason to believe they cant win it all. It is time to put the negativeness and the excuses of "they are young" behind us if we want st johns basketball to be a premier program. It is time to be confident and to dream and to be the nightmare team for the other schools.
ENOUGH WITH THE WE CANT, WE DEFINITELY CAN

I'm not sure they want the kids to cool their dreams. I simply think they don't want the media to run with it and portray them as a bunch of brash knuckleheads.

Why cool their dreams? Because when the reality of the Big East season sets in, which they may begin with 6 guys, they will have their hands full just trying to win 7 or 8 games in conference. If they are thinking they can win a national championship this year, the gap between the reality of that and what they are likely to face may cause them to achieve far less than they could.

For every Cassius Clay who proclaimed he was the greatest and then showed he was, there are millions who boast and never achieve a fraction of that.

I'd be a lot more supportive of a boast that they could make the dance as freshmen if they work hard.

So u do think the kids will be ready for William@Mary?

You guys are funny. The problem is you have been buried in the losers world that Norm helped to create. Those days are over, we have a clean ship now and I love the boasting. Yes maybe they are Cassius Clays. Time will tell.

Absolutely no shot to win conference championship let alone national. Next year with some additional help they have a shot to make a run .
