In conference games to date:

We are 1st!!!!!!!!!!! in 3 pt. percentage. Second fewest attempted.
We are 2nd!!!!!!!!! in field goal percentage.

It can't be that they could shoot when they came from high school because everyone knows we don't recruit shooters.

It can't be that they've learned, worked, and improved while they've been here because everyone knows our coaches don't develop players.

Only one possibility -

It's a miracle!!!!

Well, after all, we are a Catholic University! You light enough candles and say enough novenas, and something good is bound to happen! ;)

We have very good games and very bad games. No consistency, however, I am amazed at the stat.

4 big east games at over 50% from three: Both Creighton games, @Providence, and vs. Depaul.

Unfortunately, the only answer I have for this, is that the law of averages is bound to catch up, so we better find another way to win. Hope I'm wrong.

IMO the higher percentage is due to the efficient ball movement and penetration which results in better shots. Compared to the prior 3 years when the ball was passed around the perimeter and ended up with a forced three point attempt this year because of Pointer's passing from the key and Harrison' s penetration resulting in a layup or a medium jump shot the shot selection is much better.
This group plays very unselfish ball and the coaching staff also deserves credit.

or it could be that defenses are allowing us open looks given our history of poor outside shooting (and that they fear our penetration more than 3-pt shooting).

Field goal% from 3 in 3 of the last 4 games:
Prov: 38%
Depaul: 57%
Creighton: 57%
Creighton on the road from 3 earlier this season: 55%

Our best work has been against Creighton, who is poor at defending the 3. I couldn't even find them in the top 200 in the nation. Or it was eye strain and I missed them. Whatever is going on, it's encouraging, and it's recent. Using history as our guide, we can expect to see poor shooting on the road and against better teams. The problem is we are about to face better teams on the road, and we are desperate for conference wins.

Or:

1) Better ball movement so that guys get better looks.
2) Better shot selection because of more patience on our guys parts
3) Practice, practice, practice
4) Improvement? Maybe they are being coached up.

1) Nah.
2) Nope.
3) No way.
4) Uh uh.

Only possibilities are:

1) Statistical anomaly.
2) Defenses aren't bothering to guard us.
3) Divine intervention.

I like #3.
