Bet that game happens more than once this summer in Carnesseca, and I'd love to see it. I remember one year Duke had a strong group of upperclassmen and a great group of freshman coming in (Redick was involved, so around that time) and it got some coverage how heavily contested their fall pickup games were when they split the teams like this.

I don't think there will be anywhere near that kind of competitive divide here (as the returning players are all second-years and two of the newcomers have already been around to varying degrees). But they would/will be interesting games nonetheless. They play enough times both teams are going to get plenty of games, but who edges the other if they play 10 times?

Harrison's team wins that match-up 7 out of 10 times. Best scorer on the floor, and its not even really that close.

You would think so but the Sophomore team has little rebounding and no shot blockers. They would have a one and done possession while the Freshman team would play volleyball on the o-board.

Last years team was at a big disadvantage . They could barely field a team, so they could not get 2 squads together for practice. It is going to be nice having 2 great practice squads going after one another. I would put Garret at SF opposite Dom and Sampson at PF opposite Sanchez.

You're kind of missing the point there I guess.

The other advantage the "rookies" would have is that they would have three guys on the bench so they could try and run the "veterans" out of the gym. :p

The Freshmen team would have the size advantage and without Harkless I do not think that 2nd year team would do too well. Harrison and Garret would be the 1 and 2 shooting options, while the freshman team would have a true PG with Branch who would get the ball to the open man. Sampson can score, rebound, and block and Bourgault can hit the 3. The Freshman team has more scoring options better blocks and a true PG. I would give the advantage to the Freshman.

Best STJ freashman team I ever saw was the team of Davis, Schaeffer, Ruttledge, etc. Will never forget the game they played against the Harvard frosh team rated #1 in the country with James Brown. After the frosh game the crowd left before the varsity game.
