by my calculations

i think can be in 4-5 game if win saturday

if lose can be 6th or even fall to 7th if gtown beats nova

if 7th then have to play wed night

I think its possible to finish no higher than 5th and no lower than 7th.

After looking at the bracket and possible seeding's I think It would honestly benefit us to finish 7th, the only downside would be the 4 games in 4 days. Wed. we would likely match up with Butler followed by a game vs Creighton on Thursday. That 6/3 game on Wed if we finish 7th would have Gtown as the 6 and either Prov. or Xavier as the 3. I like our chances winning 4 games with any combination of those teams. Nova and Georgetown probably scare me the most followed by Providence. I just don't see Xavier beating us 3 times in 1 year

We can tie for third, but we would lose the tie-breakers to both Xavier and Providence. Essentially 5th is the highest we can get for seeding purposes.

I really want this scenario though. We might be seeded fifth in the tournament, but to the selection committee finishing in a tie for third looks a lot better than finishing fifth or sixth.

For sure.

Matt B, the problem with finishing 7th is that it would mean we lost to Marquette, and Georgetown beats Nova. Both of those things would hurt us tremendously. Our only chance of getting a bid then would be to win the BET. You may think that matchups look better but it becomes a Herculean task, with no margin for error.

I'd rather go in as the 5th seed and deal with whoever we have to play. IMO, two wins in the BET would get us in.
